Dr. Rivera then received his Medical Doctorate from the University of Texas McGovern Medical School in Houston, Texas and stayed on as a general surgery intern. His surgical residency was completed at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center at Nashville, where he gained experience in general and vascular surgery.
Subsequently, he completed a vascular surgery fellowship at Ochsner Health in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Girotti was born and raised in southeastern Virginia and attended college in South Carolina. He returned to Virginia for medical school and obtained his medical degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville in 2008. He then underwent a general surgery residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and during that time, he also completed a master’s degree in health and health care research and published original research about the quality of surgical care and hospital readmissions in vascular surgery.
