Dr. Paula Zand is a Board-Certified Family Physician specializing in Dermatology. She earned her undergraduate degree from UC Davis in 2003, her M.D. from St. George's University in 2012, and was honored to be selected as Chief Resident of her Family Medicine Residency in New York City in 2016. Dr. Paula focused on dermatology during her seven-year primary care tenure at Kaiser, managing over 2,400 dermatology visits annually due to a shortage of specialists.
Her pursuit of excellence led Dr. Paula to complete a rigorous yearlong dermatology fellowship under the guidance of her sister, Dr. Sarv Zand, here at Zand Dermatology. This specialized training deepened her expertise and refined her approach, ensuring her medical recommendations are perfectly aligned with Dr. Zand’s holistic and minimally-invasive philosophy. In fact, Dr. Paula performs all of Dr. Zand’s full skin examinations, biopsies, and cosmetic procedures such as Botox and fillers.
What Dr. Paula Offers:
General dermatology services: full skin examinations, skin cancer screenings, mole checks, acne, rashes, and more
Cosmetic treatments: Botox, fillers, microneedling, and lasers
A compassionate approach characterized by angelic sweetness and thoroughness, with a strong focus on patient education
Dr. Paula is not only dedicated to her patients but also to living a balanced life filled with yoga, hiking, swimming and learning. She especially enjoys cherished moments with her two children, pathologist husband (he diagnoses skin lesions under a microscope - what a perfect match!), and beloved slobbery French Mastiff, Thor.
We are privileged to have Dr. Paula Zand as a cornerstone of our practice, and we invite you to experience her exceptional care firsthand at Zand Dermatology.

I’m pleased to introduce myself as the newest member of the Idaho Skin Institute team. I will be offering general dermatology and Mohs Micrographic surgery services at our Burley and Twin Falls locations. As a graduate of Minico High School, returning home to serve the people of southern Idaho is a great honor for me and my family.
After graduating from Brigham Young University I completed medical school at the University of Washington through the WWAMI program, with a strong focus on rural and community-based care. I stayed in Idaho for my medical internship at the Boise VA Medical Center before moving to central Wisconsin to complete my dermatology residency at the Marshfield Clinic—a rural health system that closely mirrors the patient population of southern Idaho.
Most recently, I completed a fellowship in Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology at the University of Missouri under the direction of Dr. Nkanyezi Ferguson. This robust, ACGME-accredited training program emphasized the management of high-risk skin cancers in medically complex patients, including those who are post-transplant. My training included multidisciplinary collaboration with otolaryngology, facial plastic surgery, oculoplastics, and oncology.
My clinical interests include:
· High-risk and complex cutaneous oncology
· Mohs micrographic surgery
· Facial reconstruction following skin cancer removal
· Skin cancer prevention and treatment
Outside of work, my wife and I are looking forward to raising our four children on my family’s farm. We enjoy skiing, biking, and exploring Idaho’s incredible outdoors. We feel deeply grateful for the opportunity to return home and serve this community.

“Horrible. Rushed. Impersonal. No attention to detail, no skin check. She didn’t even look at my skin. I don’t know what kind of dermatology practice this is but do not go here. If you want someone to look at your skin and actually check you for skin cancers then find another dermatologist, not this one.”
