Kali Garcia Malpica (ARNP) one of the founders and Clinical Administrator was born in Matanzas, Cuba. In 2011 her husband and daughter immigrated to the United States. She is fluent in both Spanish and English. Kali attended School of Medicine in Cuba and received her Medical Degree in 2005. In November 2007 she completed the internship and residency program in Family Medicine at University of Matanzas. In July 2014 she completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Master of Science degree at South University in Savannah Georgia. Dr. Sasson E. Moulavi (Dr. Sass), MD is the Medical Director of Smart for Life™ Weight Management Centers headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida and graduate of the University of Toronto where he received a degree of Doctor of Medicine. Gershwin Blyden, MD, PhD, FCP, FACP, is a board-certified hematologist-oncologist and medical director of The Foundation for Sickle Cell Disease Research, with locations in Homestead, Orlando, Lakeland, Jacksonville, Belle Glade, Tallahassee, and Hollywood, Florida. With more than 40 years of diverse experience, Dr. Blyden is an esteemed physician in his field.

After receiving his bachelor’s degree in plant science from the Tuskegee Institute (now Tuskegee University) in Tuskegee, Alabama, in 1967, Dr. Blyden earned a PhD in pharmacology from prestigious Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1976. Just three years later, he also earned his medical doctorate cum laude from Yale University.

In 1985, Dr. Blyden completed an internal medicine internship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. That same year, he also finished his hematology/oncology and clinical pharmacology fellowship at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. 

After graduating and completing his training, Dr. Blyden worked as an adjunct professor for the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in Miami Shores, Florida, an associate clinical professor of hematology and oncology at the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, Florida, and as an associate professor of clinical pharmacy and director of the Clinical Pharmacology Research Unit at Florida A&M University’s Miami location.

Dr. Ronoel Penalver is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician serving patients at FSCDR’s Hollywood, Florida location. He provides comprehensive care focused on prevention, chronic disease management, and improving long-term health outcomes for individuals living with sickle cell disease.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Penalver contributes to clinical research efforts that support the advancement of treatment options and patient care. William Rowland, MD, is a dedicated primary care and concierge physician practicing at Boca General & Family Medicine in Boca Raton, Florida. He has over 30 years of experience and is committed to providing exceptional, personalized care to his patients.

Born in Miami and raised in Melbourne Beach, Florida, Dr. Rowland earned a degree in Statistics from the University of Florida in 1986. He continued his education at the University of Florida College of Medicine before completing his family medicine residency in Tallahassee, Florida, in 1993. Furthering his expertise, he pursued a fellowship in sports medicine at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, which he completed in 1994.

Dr. Rowland began his medical practice in Fort Lauderdale before relocating to Boca Raton in 1998. In 2000, he took over Boca General and Family Medicine, where he continues to provide comprehensive primary care services. Anthony Shydohub, MD, is a Neurologist specializing in neurophysiology/epilepsy.  He received his medical degree at the American University of the Caribbean.  Dr. Shydohub completed neurology residency at the University of South Alabama. 

 Following residency, Dr. Shydohub completed his Neurophysiology Fellowship at the University of University of New Mexico.  He is trained in electromyography (EMG) and specializes in treating patients with neuromuscular diseases.
