Umar Burney MD, MBA is the founding and managing partner at Orthopaedic Specialists of Dallas. He is dual board-certified in general orthopaedics and sports medicine surgery.
Dr. Burney was born in Madison, Wisconsin. His parents were both in the teaching profession and taught the importance of learning and education. Living abroad during high school, he had the unique opportunity to graduate with a secondary education certification from the University of Cambridge in England.
He returned to the University of Wisconsin in Madison to complete his undergraduate degree in medical microbiology and immunology with a special interest in communicative diseases of the third world.
Dr. Burney attended Saint George's University School of Medicine in True Blue, Grenada, and joined the Iota Epsilon Alpha International Medical Honors Society his sophomore year. He then completed his internship and orthopaedic surgical residency at Louisiana State University Shreveport, where he received several awards for excellence in basic science research and anatomy.
After graduating from LSU, Dr. Burney completed a sports medicine and joint replacement fellowship under the tutelage of Dr. Leland Winston and Dr. Thomas Clanton at the McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Burney has served on numerous committees throughout his career. His current roles include Joint Replacement Director and Vice Chair of the Board of Managers at Texas Health Surgery Center of Rockwall. His primary focus is sports medicine and joint replacement.
Dr. Burney is married to Nazlee, an elementary educator, and they share three children. He enjoys philanthropy, family time, traveling, running, and soccer in his spare time.
Dennis DeLeon is a passionate and devoted physical therapist assistant (PTA) at Orthopaedic Specialists of Dallas, with multiple offices conveniently located in Rockwall, Wylie, Forney, and Terrell, Texas.
He was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He relocated to Texas after serving in the United States Air Force (USAF or US Air Force).
Dennis was stationed in Hawaii, North Dakota, Portugal, and Jordan. During his time in the military, Dennis discovered a passion for helping people and wanted to pursue a career that combined this desire to help people with his love for being active.
He received an Associate of Applied Science for Physical Therapist Assistant in 2021 and looks forward to utilizing all he has learned to provide the highest quality patient care.
When not in the clinic, Dennis enjoys lifting heavy weights, watching sports, exploring the great outdoors, and finding the best ramen shops in DFW (Dallas/Fort Worth).

Shortly after medical school, his father just retired from Dallas Police, suffered traumatic brain injury, and which pointed Dr. Cung towards Geriatric and palliative care; though at his core, he likes to see patients of all different ages.

Tariq Mallick, MD, MBA, is the board-certified family medicine physician at Family Care & Wellness in Allen, Texas. Dr. Mallick takes a patient-centered approach to care focused on prevention and wellness, in addition to chronic health conditions. He views his relationship with his patients as a partnership, providing the support, guidance, and tools his patients need to optimize their health and well-being.
At Family Care & Wellness, Dr. Mallick is part of the UT Southwestern/TexasHealth Resources provider network. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in human biology from the University of Toronto in Toronto, Canada, Dr. Mallick went on to complete his Doctor of Medicine at the Universidad Iberoamericana School of Medicine in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
He continued his medical training at Mercy/Mayo Family Medicine Residency Program in Des Moines, Iowa, and graduated with a degree from the Mayo Clinic graduate school of medicine.
A life-long learner, Dr. Mallick went on to earn his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Iowa’s Henry B. Tippie School of Management in Iowa City, Iowa.
Dr. Mallick has more than 15 years of experience in a variety of settings, including hospitals and clinics. He also served as a medical director for ten years, overseeing several physicians and participating in committees focused on quality care and patient safety.
Dedicated to sharing his knowledge with future physicians, Dr. Mallick was also an associate professor and precepted medical students from Des Moines Medical University during their clinical rotations.
Dr. Mallick spends his free time outdoors. He enjoys staying active through hiking, carpentry, and tennis.
