Dr. Harman P. Kaur has trained at some of the best training programs in the country. She completed her internship at the Internal Medicine Residency Program in Spokane, Washington (an affiliate of the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, WA) and then her Residency at SUNY-Buffalo Internal Medicine Residency Program in Buffalo, NY. Her Fellowship Training in Oncology was at the nationally - acclaimed Wilmot Cancer Institute in Rochester, NY. This experienced was followed with a Faculty Position at Roswell Park Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY before moving to the Dallas area with her family. She has also co-authored various book chapters in medical textbooks which are used in teaching programs across the country.

Dr. Kaur is fluent in English, Hindi, and Punjabi. In her free time, Dr. Kaur enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and volunteering time at the local Sikh Temple where she focuses on her faith, Sikhism. 

Karan Staggers is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C). She is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University College of Nursing (BSN) and Walden University (MSN in Nursing) specializing in Family Nurse Practitioner. Karan is associated with A.L.M.S. Community Health Center, Inc in Grand Prairie, Texas where she is actively practicing as an FNP-C. Karan has been in nursing for greater than 25 years specializing in pediatric nursing, critical care nursing, and emergency medicine. She has been recognized as a Sigma Theta Tau international member for nurses. She was awarded the P.R.I.D.E. (Participation, Respect, Integrity, Diversity and Excellence) Values award for nursing by the University of Chicago Hospital in Chicago, Illinois for excellence in nursing. She has had a career interest in the health and well-being of the family since her inception of her career. Her focus is identifying disease, managing chronic illness, and educating patients about their health.

After completing her residency in 1999 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Dallas, Dr. Dharma single handedly grew her small medical practice into Southwest Family Medicine Associates (SFMA). As the medical director, she brings her passion for innovative and cutting edge technology to the practice, and worked to secure recognition of SFMA as a “medical home” from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)-an elite accreditation which only 1,500 clinics in the nation hold. Dr. Dharma has a “no stone left unturned” philosophy to medicine, which has earned her a strong following of patients. She also believes that prevention is the key to good health, which lead her to establish our on-site wellness center in 2014. Her dedication to medicine is represented by the multiple board positions she holds, including president of her local chapter to being on the board of the national Texas of Physicians- (TAFP). As an associate clinical faculty member at UT Southwestern, she has taught medical student for over 15 years. In her spare time, she enjoys cross-fit, Capoeira martial arts, and spending time with ther family.

A graduate of UT San Antonio, “Dr. J” (as she is known to her patients) joined us in 2004. Dr. Jaiswal heads our care coordination and outreach program that ensures the highest quality of care and customer service. She gets much joy in caring for those who are in need, and is known for her loving and compassionate bedside manners, especially when caring for the elderly. Her clinical emphasis is on managing hypertension and heart disease. Outside of work Dr Jaiswal enjoys spending time with family and friends.

 

Dr. Prachi Thapar is a board-certified Family Medicine physician and a DFW native. She grew up in Flower Mound, TX, and graduated from Washington University in St. Louis. She completed her medical school education at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth. Subsequently, Dr. Thapar completed her Family Medicine residency at UT Southwestern in Dallas, where she developed a robust clinical background and a deep understanding of patient care.

She became a Family Medicine doctor as it provided the opportunity to be on the frontline of preventive healthcare, working as a part of a collaborative effort to establish long-lasting relationships with patients of all ages and diverse backgrounds to understand their unique narratives.  Sarah Ashitey, MD is board certified in Family Medicine and provides comprehensive care both for the individual and family. She brings a patient-centered personal touch into every encounter and believes that each patient’s unique story is central to the healing process and path to wholeness and wellbeing.

She obtained her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and completed her residency at the esteemed John Peter Smith Hospital residency program. Dr. Monica Ramirez is a Dallas native who has just completed her residency at UT Health San Antonio.  She is excited to be back in Dallas and thrilled to be joining Southwest Family Medicine Associates. 

Dr. Ramirez pursued Family Medicine as it allows her to form trusting and long-lasting relationships with patients and their family members. She is a strong believer of the “whole person” approach which is at the heart of family medicine and an advocate of education and preventive medicine.

I graduated as a doctor in Cuba at the University of Havana in 1986.I have been working since that date without interruption. In 2007 I arrived in this wonderful country. I got ARNP in 2018. and I'm working as a FNP since that date.

Dr. Lopez-Sepulveda was born in Puerto Rico and grew up interested in medicine and helping others. He looked up to his father, Dr. Angel Luis López Ruiz, a well-established surgeon in Puerto Rico.
