He eventually moved to Selma Family Health Care, where he continued to practice Family Medicine, until he opened his own private practice, J. Darrick Wells MD, Inc., in 1996. Dr Wells continued to provide Family Medical Care for 22 years, before transitioning into the Urgent Care field of medicine.

Dr. Wells’ awards are numerous and extensive, including: the Richard D Steed Scholar Award, the All-Academic Award, the Associated Press Honorable-Mention, & Phi Beta Kappa. During his college years, he was the Team Captain for the Rice University Football team, he received the American Spirit award, the George R. Brown Most Valuable Receiver award, the All-Southwest Conference Receiver award, and was inducted into the Tiger Athletic Hall of Fame.

Originally from Boston Massachusetts, she was educated at first at Mass General Hospital, and later at Boston College. She worked as a Registered Nurse for many years in cardiothoracic nursing as well as brain injury and spinal cord rehabilitation. She relocated to Texas in 1997 and worked at The Texas Instituted for Rehabilitation and Research (TIRR) before returning to UTMB to continue her education. Barbara Kiersz-Mueller, D.O., is a board-certified family physician who has specialized expertise in headaches, ADHD, sports injuries and child development. Dr. Kiersz Mueller treats patients through THINK Virtual Health.

Dr Kiersz-Mueller was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and moved to Florida with her parents and siblings at the age of 15. Dr. Kiersz-Mueller majored in chemical biology for her undergraduate studies at Stevens Institute of Technology, earning a Bachelor of Science. After graduating in 2010, she enrolled at the Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine to complete her medical degree.

Dr. Kiersz-Mueller undertook her internship in family and osteopathic medicine at the Medical College of Georgia from 2014-2015, and completed her residency in family and community medicine at the University of Texas Health Sciences San Antonio from 2015-2017, where she served as chief resident during her senior year. When she is not devoting her time to young patients, Dr. Kiersz-Mueller takes great pleasure in spending time with her husband and hiking and paddle-boarding with their Dachshund. Richard R. Andrews, MD, MPH, FASAM, is a board-certified addiction medicine physician and family medicine specialist with over three decades of experience in patient care, public health, and medical education. Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. Andrews has dedicated his career to serving diverse communities, from rural migrant health centers in Virginia to immigrant and refugee populations in Houston, Texas.
