Eric Blake, ND, Dipl. Ac., is an expert naturopathic physician and the medical director of Portland Clinic of Holistic Health, providing care in Downtown Portland, Oregon. Dr. Blake received his Bachelor of Arts in anthropology from the University of Cincinnati in Ohio. He presented his undergraduate work on cross-cultural medicine and religion in Cairo, Egypt at an International Conference in 1992. Upon graduating, he was an herbalist in Cincinnati as well as working alongside an experienced Japanese acupuncturist in New York City. Dr. Blake went on to complete his Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (ND) at the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM). Dr. Metro earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and gained specialized knowledge in silicate, chlor-alkali, and petroleum-based derivatives while working for Occidental Chemical Corporation in Dallas, Texas. During his career at Occidental Chemical Corporation, he also pursued his interest in natural medicine by completing initial course work at the New England School of Homeopathy in Amherst, Massachusetts.

He then engaged in further study at the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon, where he completed his Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine. Dr. Metro worked with Professor Heiner Fruehauf, founder of the Classical Chinese medicine department at the National College of Natural Medicine, to create an online film archive of interviews and lectures from experts in mainland China.

Dr. Metro gained clinical experience in addiction treatment and infectious diseases through several internship programs throughout Portland, Oregon, with the Portland Alternative Health Center, De Paul Treatment Youth Center, and Outside In and Dignity Village. Dr. Hanna Rosenthal is a licensed naturopathic physician and acupuncturist completing a residency under the guidance of Dr. Ilana Gurevich. She earned her doctorate in naturopathic medicine and master’s in acupuncture with a Chinese herbal medicine specialization from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR.

Dr. Rosenthal has a particular interest in gastroenterology and digestive health, inspired by her own journey with inflammatory bowel disease. David Chang, ND, LAc, is a board-certified naturopathic physician and acupuncturist at Open Wellness PDX in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Chang has extensive experience providing primary care, chronic pain management, and traditional Chinese medicine services. 

Dr. Chang was born in Taipei, Taiwan, and he spent part of his childhood there before relocating to beautiful Ashland, Oregon, and then to Portland. Dr. Elizabeth Emrick is a first-year naturopathic medical resident working under the dual mentorship of Dr. Ilana Gurevich and Dr. Rebecca Sand. She is dedicated to integrative, patient-centered medicine that goes beyond simply treating disease to nurture lasting wellness.

As a native Oregonian, Dr. Emrick has always known she wanted to become a physician and has long felt called to serve her home community. Her path was shaped in part by her mother’s cancer diagnosis, which highlighted both the life-saving role of conventional treatment and the importance of supporting long-term wellness. This experience inspired her to pursue naturopathic medicine, where she could focus on whole-person care and addressing the root causes of disease.

Dr. Emrick earned her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) and her Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, with a minor in Spanish, from Tulane University. She has advanced training in visceral manipulation and abdominal therapy, which inform her hands-on approach to supporting digestive, hormonal, and reproductive health.

Her clinical interests include the microbiome, fertility, gastroenterology, dermatology, and the interconnected gut-brain-skin axis. She has a special focus on gastrointestinal health and its influence on immunity, mental health, and chronic disease. Julie Foster, FNP, MSN, founded Pohala Clinic PC in Portland, Oregon, as a place of healing that is a culmination of her 25 years of experience in nursing and integrative medicine.
