Board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, Melinda Miller-Thrasher, MD, has over 25 years of experience in her field. She proudly serves patients at Innovative Women's HealthCare Solutions in Smyrna and Atlanta, Georgia. Her practice has grown to include The Fibroid and Reproductive Care Center, Innovative Diagnostics, Innovative Surgical Arts, and Innovative Concierge Services.

Dr. Miller-Thrasher was born and raised in Harlem and is one of seven brothers and sisters. She credits her mother, her grandmother, and the Lord for her perseverance, and her older brothers’ guidance in her decision to pursue medicine. She chose to pursue OB/GYN so she could have an early impact on young women’s health and a life-long impact on the children they bear.  

She studied at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, graduating with a major in biology and a minor in nutritional sciences before completing her residency training at New York University. She was recruited to join the faculty of Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, as an assistant professor, where she taught and trained students and residents. Although no longer a full-time faculty member, she continues her passion for teaching by mentoring pre-med students, as well as Emory University School of Medicine medical students and residents. Dr. Miller-Thrasher was competitively selected to receive advanced training in a one-year clinical fellowship through the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery at the nationally-acclaimed and busiest cosmetic surgery practice in the country, Southern Surgical Arts. During her fellowship training, she focused specifically on all aspects of general cosmetic surgery and aesthetic procedures of the face, body, and breast. She assisted in the care of thousands of women and took part in more than 1,000 cosmetic surgical procedures of the face, neck, breast, and body. 

Her years of gynecologic surgery experience, along with her cutting-edge formal clinical fellowship training in cosmetic surgery and award-winning bedside manner, make her uniquely qualified to artfully transform her patients into a more beautiful version of their natural selves.

After her family relocated to Atlanta due to the impact of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, she chose to complete her medical training at Emory University School of Medicine and Rollins School of Public Health earning a MD and MPH degree simultaneously. She completed Obstetrics and Gynecology at Morehouse School of Medicine serving as the Administrative Chief Resident in 2017. Since then, she has practiced General Obstetrics and Gynecology with special interests in family planning, fertility management, peri-menopause and menopausal conditions and minimally invasive surgery techniques. She emphasizes passionate, patient-centered care and seeks to improve the disparities in care for women and minorities within the medical community. Urania Davis, DO, FACOOG is a Board Certified OB/GYN at Nile Women’s Health Care in Roswell and Suwanee, Georgia. She specializes in pre-conception counseling and helping women prepare themselves for successful pregnancies. 

Dr. Davis is focused on caring for the whole person, not just the symptoms that may have brought them to see her. It’s the part she enjoys most about being a physician. In addition, Dr. Davis has developed a reputation in the office for being extremely thorough with her patients, has a relatable personality, and is easy to talk to.

Originally from Dominica and raised in St. Croix, Dr. Davis received both a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and a Master of Biomedical Science from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Georgia. She then completed her residency in Miami, Florida, where she served as the chief administrative resident.

Dr. Davis brings extensive knowledge in several areas, including gynecologic robotic surgery, facilitating VBACs, and experience working with birth center patients in Florida. Considered among the top in her field, she garnered a podium finish with a presentation to the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association on her Zika screening research. Dr. Davis also taught anatomy, and physiology, microbiology, and biology as an adjunct professor for both Gwinnett Technical College and Georgia Perimeter College. 

When not at the hospital or office, Dr. Davis mentors young women through her church and has completed a mission trip to Kenya. She enjoys any activity that brings her extended family and friends together, going on vacations, plus spending time with her husband and three children.

Board-certified OB/GYN Hughan Frederick, MD, FACOG, is the founder of Nile Women’s Health Care in Roswell and Suwanee, Georgia.

Practicing for nearly 20 years, Dr. Frederick has had the experience of helping thousands of women from childbirth through menopause and everything in between. Trained in the fields of obstetrics, gynecology, bio-identical hormones, and bariatrics, he has the unique expertise to help women through life’s many stages.

While he manages several high-risk pregnancies, Dr. Frederick maintains a low C-section rate compared to the national average. He has performed hundreds of gynecological surgeries including hysterectomies, laparoscopies, and routine OB/GYN examinations.

Since establishing Nile Women’s Health Care in 2006, Dr. Frederick’s practice has grown to be among the largest women’s care practices serving the Alpharetta and Roswell areas. Heather Laflam, CNM, is a certified nurse-midwife and women’s health nurse practitioner at Nile Women’s Health Care in Roswell, Georgia. 

Heather’s goal as a certified-nurse midwife is to make sure no woman has to experience the type of traumatic experience that she went through with the birth of her second child. She wants to help others avoid feeling the way she did. It’s what guided her pursuit to become a midwife.

Originally from Danielsville, GA, Heather attended the Medical College of GA for her bachelors in nursing where she decided she would dedicate her career to helping mothers and babies. After working as a highly-motivated registered nurse in labor and delivery for over a decade she went back to Georgia College and State University for her masters to become a certified nurse midwife.

Now, as an official member of the Nile Women’s Health Care family, Heather will be providing comprehensive care to gynecological, obstetrical, antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum clients. Heather believes, as a society, we need to take better care of our women immediately following the birth of their children. As a result, she focuses on postpartum depression with research and education. As an Alpharetta/Roswell midwife, Heather will deliver at Wellstar North Fulton Hospital.

Heather and her family still call their quaint town home. As a self-described hard worker, she enjoys sewing and embroidering baby items when not at work.
