I graduated from the Midwifery Program at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Prior to becoming a midwife, I was an Ob/Gyn sonographer. Upon graduation from Downstate, I received multiple awards for dedication and perseverance to the Midwifery Program. Caroline Paster graduated from the Midwifery Education Program at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, where she received the Spirit of Midwifery Award along with Clinical and Academic Excellence Awards. Shira Plonka is a board certified Genetic Counselor at ROSH Maternal Fetal Medicine. Additionally, she is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC); she earned her Master of Science in Human Genetics from Sarah Lawrence College. Prior to receiving her master’s, Shira received an honors degree in psychology and social work from University of Waterloo. Shira has held internships in many of New York City’s top hospitals, acquiring a broad exposure to many disciplines and specialties, including cancer and pediatric genetics.

Dr. John Migotsky is a Board-certified OB/GYN, and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  He comes to ROSH Maternal-Fetal medicine with 16 years of experience.  After graduating from Brown University with a degree in neuroscience, Dr. Migotsky conducted research in maternal/child health and perinatal epidemiology with the Rhode Island Department of Health.  He received his medical degree at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.  Then he completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, NY.  Prior to his work with ROSH, he worked in private practice in Westchester, NY and was affiliated with Greenwich Hospital and Lenox Hill Hospital.
