Steven Chen, MD, is a fellowship-trained oncologist surgeon who specializes in breast, endocrine, and melanoma surgery. Today, he is proud to work with the rest of the OasisMD team to help patients recover from the effects of cancer at OasisMD in Encinitas, San Diego, and Temecula, California.
Dr. Chen completed both his undergraduate and medical degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He later performed his general surgery residency and critical care fellowship at the University of Michigan before moving to Los Angeles and completing a surgical oncology fellowship at the John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, California.
Dr. Chen then joined the City of Hope, serving as the associate director of the Surgical Oncology Training Program. During his tenure there, Dr. Chen worked to train the next generation of surgical oncologists and served as the director of surgical oncology research. Dr. Chen also served as an associate professor of surgery.
Throughout his career, Dr. Chen has also served as the chief of breast surgery and the chair of the Melanoma Tumor Board at the University of California, Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California. His leadership ability led him to become a director of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and to assist in accrediting breast oncology training programs for the Society of Surgical Oncology.
Dr. Chen has also held leadership positions in the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Association, and the Association for Academic Surgery. A highly accomplished author, he has contributed to over 50 peer-reviewed medical publications, and he is often invited to deliver lectures all over the world.
At OasisMD, Dr. Chen performs a variety of breast, thyroid, parathyroid, and melanoma procedures. He offers a wide range of oncology surgeries, including lumpectomy, mastectomy, and biopsy. Dr. Chen looks forward to continuing his work with cancer patients in the California area.
Angelique Richardson, MD, PhD, is a board-certified medical oncologist and associate professor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer at the University of California, San Diego. She sees patients at her private practice – Angelique E Richardson MD PhD | The Center for Phenomenal Health & Wellness – located in San Diego, California. Dr. Richardson’s research focuses on cancer health disparities, specifically examining why survival rates for certain types of breast cancer differ among various groups of women.
In addition to her oncology expertise, Dr. Richardson is also a women’s health specialist dedicated to helping women navigate menopause and perimenopause, with an emphasis on improving quality of life, long-term wellness, and survivorship for women at higher risk or with a history of breast cancer.
Dr. Richardson earned both her medical degree and PhD in microbiology and molecular genetics—with an emphasis in cancer biology—at Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda, California. She completed her residency in internal medicine at White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles, followed by a hematology/oncology fellowship at Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania. She also participated in a clinical breast oncology program at the University of Miami in Florida.
She is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American College of Physicians, and the National Medical Association. Dr. Richardson also serves the breast cancer community as a member of the Susan G. Komen Leadership Council and National Advisory Board, and as an elected member of the California Breast Cancer Research Council at the University of California.
