About Us

Carlos Uquillas, MD, is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in adult and pediatric sports medicine as well as arthroscopy. He serves patients across Southern California and Los Angeles at his office in Los Angeles, California.

Kushagra Verma, MD, MS, FAAOS, is a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon at Advanced Spine Care in Los Alamitos and Marina Del Rey, California. ABOUT DR. THOMAS KREMEN

Thomas J. Kremen, MD is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with advanced subspecialty training in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery. He cares for patients of all activity levels—from professional athletes to individuals simply looking to stay active and pain-free.

Dr. Kremen has extensive experience as a team physician at the highest levels of sport. He has worked with organizations across the country and internationally, including Duke University Athletics, U.S. Men’s National Team Soccer, LA Galaxy, USA Basketball, and the U.S. Olympic Swimming Team. He currently serves as a team physician for UCLA Athletics, the South Bay Lakers, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Los Angeles Chargers.

Anand Shah, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and board-certified orthopedic hand surgeon and the owner of Valley Orthopedic Institute in Palmdale and Ridgecrest, California. In addition to treating patients of all ages with general orthopedic problems, Dr. Shah specializes in hand and upper extremity trauma and reconstruction.

Opening the doors to Valley Orthopedic Institute marked a homecoming for Dr. Shah, who went to Quartz Hill High School in Lancaster, California, which is just a few minutes away from Palmdale in the Antelope Valley. 

Dr. Shah graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Science in physiology and neuroscience. He excelled in earning his medical degree at Chicago Medical School in North Chicago in 2002, graduating first in his class and gaining election to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.

Next came an orthopedic residency at the University of Miami, Florida, and then Dr. Shah returned to UC San Diego for a fellowship program for hand, upper extremity, and microsurgery.

Mehul Taylor, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Valley Orthopedic Institute in Palmdale and Ridgecrest, California. About Andrew Bulczynski

Andrew Bulczynski, MD, is a board-certified sports medicine orthopedic surgeon and founder of the surgery practice that bears his name in Marina del Rey, California. He has been a practicing physician for nearly 20 years.

A graduate of Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, Dr. Bulczynski earned his doctorate in medicine in 1999. Always interested in orthopedic medicine, he went on to receive special orthopedic surgery training during his residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago.

Dr. Matsuda has volunteered for over 25 years with Orthopaedics Overseas, is the Director of their Travelling Fellowship Program, and also volunteers with the Alliance of Jamaican and American Humanitarians (AOJAH).

As a former football running back, Dr. Matsuda understands the goals and unique needs of the athlete. Moreover, he enjoys running, golf, surfing, and spear fishing which keeps him in synch with his active patients. Dr. Matsuda has experience from both sides of the scalpel, having had hip arthroscopies for both of his own hips. Jonathan H. Koenig, MD, is a Board Certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon at Los Angeles Pediatric Orthopaedics serving the Brentwood community on the Westside of Los Angeles. Though Dr. Koenig specializes in treating children and young adults, he’s happy to help any patient who still feels young at heart. 

Growing up on Long Island in the suburbs of New York City, Dr. Koenig was a tri-sport athlete who went on to play varsity lacrosse at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. He graduated from Yale with a degree in the history of science and medicine. He then returned to New York City to earn his medical degree at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx.  

Dr. Koenig completed a five-year orthopaedic surgery residency at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan's Upper East Side — home of America’s first official sports medicine department. His training included rotations at world-leading institutions like Boston Children’s Hospital, R Adams Crowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. Dr. Koenig served as chief resident during his final year and completed a traveling fellowship at The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. 

Leaving New York City for sunny Southern California, Dr. Koenig finished a one-year fellowship in pediatric orthopedics and scoliosis surgery at the world-renowned Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego. He’s honored to bring his wealth of knowledge and extensive experience to the Westside of Los Angeles, where he resides with his wife, Dani - a native Angeleno.  They enjoy spending time with their young daughter - Harlow, newborn son - Hudson, as well as their furst born - Woody, a golden retriever.
