Growing up in Oakland he played basketball and baseball as a teen and sustained a number of injuries, including a broken ankle and stress fractures in his lower back, he was on the patient side of the health care relationship. This eventually underwent successful surgery on his ankle. “I got introduced to the field of medicine, orthopedic surgery and pain management during that time and have so much respect for the practice and its practitioners, because I saw that you can get injured but then recover and be back to full functionality under the supervision of skilled doctors and physical therapists.”

Since graduating from The College of New Jersey in 2018 with a degree in Health and Exercise Science and the New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, Long Island in May with an MS in Physician Assistant Studies, Jensen is using his positive past experience as a patient to inform his approach to his own patients. “I had a great experience and got excellent care,” he said. “Similarly, I want to put my patients first and provide the best care possible.”

Dr. Joel Buchalter has been in practice since 1988, and with his lifelong professional partner, Dr. Joel Buchalter, is a founding and managing partner of Somers Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Group. He is the Chief of Joint Replacement Surgery at Northern Westchester Hospital and the Medical Director at the Orthopaedic & Specialty Surgery Center in Danbury, Connecticut. He is on staff at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, Orthopaedic & Specialty Surgery Center in Danbury, and Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel, New York.

He has served many years as the Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Putnam Hospital Center and as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Dr. Buchalter’s main interest is in joint replacement surgery. He performs minimally invasive hip and knee replacements using the most advanced technology. He utilizes robotics (MAKO) and computer navigation, as well as muscle sparing direct anterior hip replacements with the HANA table. Many patients can go home the same day after a hip or knee replacement. The remaining patients are usually 23 hour stays with a discharge to home. Advanced anesthetic techniques, local anesthetic blocks, and non-narcotic medications are used to minimize post operative pain and accelerate recoveries. Dr. Buchalter also performs shoulder replacements, hip and knee revisions, and arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery.

Dr. Buchalter received his original board certification in Orthopaedic Surgery in 1990 and has re-certified in 2000, 2010, and 2020. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. Dr. Buchalter graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering. Matthew Rogell, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon at Somers Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Group. He has practiced in the greater Danbury, Connecticut, area since 2006.

With fellowship expertise in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery, Dr. Rogell also specializes in procedures for adult total joint and reconstruction of the knees, hips, and shoulders. He uses the latest technology, bringing to his patients the use of stem cell and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapies and patient-specific joint reconstruction.

He attended Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, followed by two years of research at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Rogell attended Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his surgical internship at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He then completed his orthopaedic surgical residency at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York, and St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City. Afterward, he returned to MedStar Union Memorial Hospital to complete a sports medicine fellowship.

During his years of training, Dr. Rogell was affiliated with the New York Rangers, the Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Blast, Junior Olympics, and various college and high school teams. Yariv Maghen, MD, FAAOS, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon at Somers Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Group in Fishkill and Carmel, New York, and Danbury, Connecticut. Dr. Feder completed his Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Orthopedic Surgery, one of the nation’s top programs for joint replacement. Venus Murati is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a background in neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, and primary care who now specializes in both aesthetic medicine and primary care. A New Jersey native, Venus began her nursing career in 2014 and has spent over a decade working in private practice settings specializing in Orthopedics, Spine, Sports Medicine, Pain Management, and Primary Care.

Venus earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Regis College in 2020 and is board certified by the ANCC. She is also a fluent Spanish speaker, allowing her to connect with a diverse range of patients and provide compassionate, high-quality care.

David Konigsberg, MD, is a board-certified pediatric orthopedic surgeon with over a decade of experience treating musculoskeletal conditions in children and adolescents. He provides expert care to patients at Konigsberg Pediatric Orthopaedics in Midland Park, New Jersey.

A graduate of Dartmouth College, Dr. Konigsberg earned his medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where he also completed his residency and was inducted into the AOA Medical Honors Society. His passion for pediatric orthopedics was sparked during a rotation at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, leading him to complete a prestigious fellowship in Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.

Dr. Konigsberg’s clinical research on Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip has been presented internationally and published in respected medical journals such as Spine and the Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics. In 2011, he founded his own pediatric orthopedic practice in Ridgewood, New Jersey, and remains on staff at The Valley Hospital and Hackensack University Medical Center.

Nicholas Szwaba, DPM, provides wound care and foot surgery to patients at Richmond Podiatry Associates in the Eltingville neighborhood of Staten Island, New York. 

Dr. Szwaba is a Staten Island local who now is serving the Staten Island community as a physician. He attended New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his residency at Northwell Staten Island University Hospital undergoing extensive training in forefoot, rearfoot, ankle reconstructive surgery, and limb salvage procedures. During his final year of residency, he served as chief resident. 

Dr. Szwaba continued his education and training by completing an additional yearlong fellowship following his residency due to his interest in wound care. He completed his wound care fellowship at NYC HHC Coney Island Hospital. During his time at NYC HHC Coney Island, he obtained advanced training in wound care techniques and limb salvage procedures.
