When Dr. Weiss founded the practice, it wasn’t enough just to create a facility where patients could expect exceptional medical care. In addition to his patient care work, Dr. Weiss stays current in advanced orthopaedic treatments through research and education. His educational activities include serving as a master instructor for the Arthroscopy Association of North America and appearing in an episode of the television show Mythbusters.

He began his academic career at MIT, where he received a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering. He earned his MD and MBA from the University of California at Los Angeles before specializing in orthopaedic surgery at Stanford University. He completed his fellowship in spine surgery at Stanford University Medical Center (SUMC) and St. Mary's Hospital in San Francisco. He also served as a clinical instructor at SUMC.

Dr. Oshtory’s special interests are minimally-invasive surgery, cervical spine surgery, spinal deformity surgery, and biomedical device technology.  He has published articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national meetings. He is a member of the North American Spine Society and the Society of Lateral Access Surgeons. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (FAAOS).
