Dr. Safar’s passion for medicine began at a very early age when all he wanted to do was help those in need. He constantly volunteered at hospitals and shelters growing up and was part of Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) during high school. While in college, Dr. Safar was published in a research article at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX which further motivated him into pursuing his interest in medicine.

At NYPCM, Dr. Goodeill and a group of friends founded the International Podiatry Club (IPC) with the intent of generating multicultural medical mission trips. Initially IPC medical missions focused on Baja, Mexico. The IPC has since expanded to India and the Dominican Republic as well. Dr. Goodeill has had the opportunity to be a part of medical missions as a medical student, a resident and an attending.

Kyle Durfey, DPM, D.ABFAS, FACFAS, DABPM, is an experienced Double Board Certified Podiatrist and co-founder of Arizona Foot and Ankle Medical Center in Chandler and Laveen, Arizona. He has an in-depth educational background in foot and ankle injuries, allowing him to comprehensively treat patients for bunions, hammertoes, warts, infections, fractures, arthritis, and pain and injuries of the foot and ankle.
Dr. Durfey studied at Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in Miami Shores, Florida. There, he spent four years specializing in foot and ankle surgery.
He graduated with his medical degree in 2016 and moved to Tucson, Arizona, for his three-year surgical residency at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System. During his residency, his knowledge and dedication were quickly recognized, and he became chief resident.

Dr. Brian J. Hiapo Jr, DPM, AACFAS, DABPM, is an experienced Board Certified Podiatrist and the co-founder of Arizona Foot and Ankle Medical Center in Laveen, Arizona. Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Hiapo can communicate thoroughly with patients of varying backgrounds and needs. Kelvin S. Crezee DPM, FACFAS, of Ahwatukee Foot & Ankle Center in Phoenix and Maricopa, Arizona, is double board-certified in surgery and medicine. He completed his undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University and the University of California at Berkeley. He then moved on to complete medical school in San Francisco with honors followed by a highly prestigious, multi-year surgical residency program near Detroit at Kern Hospital for Specialty Foot and Ankle Surgery. His training included trauma and reconstructive surgery in adult and pediatrics.
In addition, Dr. Crezee has specialty training in diabetes and sports medicine. Jeffrey McAlister, DPM, FACFAS, is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon, who specializes in advanced foot and ankle reconstruction with offices in Scottsdale and Phoenix, Arizona.
Dr. McAlister’s passion for patient care began at the University of Iowa, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in 2004, before garnering an interest in podiatric medicine and surgery during his time at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine.
Since his days as a podiatric medical student, Dr. McAlister has gone on to continue his education whenever possible. He completed a rigorous residency training in the northern Virginia suburbs through the INOVA Fairfax Hospital Podiatric Residency program, where he received specialized training in foot and ankle trauma, adult and pediatric reconstruction, and diabetic limb salvage.
Some of Dr. McAlister’s rotations during his time in the program included internal medicine, infectious diseases, vascular surgery, emergency medicine, and general surgery.
Under the mentorship of prominent doctors like John Steinberg DPM and Chris Attinger MD, Dr. McAlister even served as chief resident for the limb salvage service at Georgetown University Hospital during that time.
Dr. Jeffrey E. McAlister is honored to be one of only a few podiatric surgeons in the United States that has completed a 12 month surgical fellowship at the prestigious Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Center in Columbus, Ohio. This was completed in Columbus, Ohio under the direction of Christopher Hyer, DPM, Gregory Berlet MD, Thomas Lee MD and Terrence Philbin DO and was affiliated with Grant Medical Hospital and The Ohio State University. This is the same type of fellowship that MD/DO orthopedic surgeons complete if they wish to sub-specialize in the foot and ankle.
As a fellow member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and national speaker and peer educator, Dr. McAlister is passionate about technological advances in the foot and ankle field, specifically in educating patients on the advantages of primary and revision total ankle arthroplasty.

Shylaja Arya, DPM, is a board-certified podiatrist at Arya Foot & Ankle in Phoenix, Arizona. She specializes in sports medicine, pediatric care, skin and nail problems, diabetic care, and geriatric foot care. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Arya also has a special interest in working with children and is a member of the American Board of Foot & Ankle Pediatrics.
Dr. Arya was born and brought up in Cincinnati, Ohio. After practicing in North Texas, she moved to Phoenix for the mountains, sunshine, people, and her family. She graduated Cum Laude with Honors from The Ohio State University and earned her medical degree from Kent State College of Podiatric Medicine. She completed her surgical residency at the Dayton VA Medical Center in Ohio.
She enjoys working with patients of all ages and activity levels. Dr. Arya finds it rewarding to help people meet their goals, whether it’s a beginner starting out on a new athletic journey, a high-level athlete, or a pediatric patient looking to improve performance. Dr. Arya provides in-office surgical procedures, including ingrown toenails, wart treatment, foot and ankle injections, nail and skin biopsies, geriatric care, and much more. She has a special interest in biomechanics/gait, trauma and sports injuries, children’s foot and ankle problems, diabetic health, geriatric care, and general foot care. She was voted Top Doc by Southlake Style in 2019.
As an active person and registered Yoga Instructor (RYT-500); Dr. Arya spends her free time playing tennis, pickleball, running, practicing yoga, cheering at sporting events, hiking, and biking. She understands the emotional effects foot and ankle issues can have on her patients, and she prides herself on partnering with them so they can safely and efficiently resume their routine. With her yoga educator background, she often integrates rehabilitation in her treatments, including balance, strength, and flexibility recommendations for patients of all ages.
Dr. Arya loves being part of her community. Currently, she volunteers at St. Vincent de Paul Medical Center, working with a population of Diabetics and patients at high risk for limb or life threatening infections. She also tutors for a non-profit organization devoted to young and older students with Down Syndrome, called Gigi's Playhouse. Dr. Arya is a former coach for Girls on the Run, a nonprofit program that fosters a healthy, active mentality for young females. Dr. Arya looks forward to serving the community and welcomes patients to Arya Foot & Ankle.
