Dr. Shapiro received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from The California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, California. While in medical school, he volunteered as a prosecutor in a podiatrist’s office. Dr. Shapiro received multiple scholarships for his outstanding academic performance.
He completed his competitive three-year podiatric residency at Weiss Memorial Hospital and its satellite-associated off-site facilities in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Shapiro worked alongside many talented podiatric physicians in their private offices during this time. He received extensive training in repairing acute fractures of the forefoot, midfoot, and rearfoot, external fixation, bunion corrections, hammertoe deformity repairs, limb salvage, and plastic surgery.
All these experiences, with the commitment to continuous learning about medicine, energize Dr. Shapiro’s enthusiasm to give back to people and plan for future challenges in podiatric medicine.
