Dr. Aamir Ahmed

Aamir Ahmed, DPM, is a fellowship-trained, board-eligible foot and ankle surgeon with extensive training in reconstructive surgery. He currently sees patients at Ankle & Foot Doctors of New Jersey in Millburn, Westfield, and Union, New Jersey.

Dr. Ahmed earned his medical degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine after graduating cum laude with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biomedical engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He completed his three-year surgical residency at St. Mary’s General Hospital in Passaic, New Jersey, where he gained surgical experience in adult foot and ankle reconstruction, trauma, arthritic joints, Achilles tendon reconstruction, arthroscopy, Charcot neuroarthropathy, and diabetic limb salvage, with advanced training techniques in wound care.

The following year, Dr. Ahmed went on to complete a pediatric foot and ankle fellowship at The Pediatric Orthopedic Center in Cedar Knolls, New Jersey, under the mentorships of Dr. Mark Solomon and Dr. Mark Rieger. There, he gained experience treating children with foot and ankle congenital deformities, sprains, fractures, growth plate injuries, as well as sports and dance injuries. Some pediatric conditions that Dr. Ahmed has managed and treated include equinovarus deformities (clubfoot), toe walkers, in-toeing, flatfoot, high arch foot, ankle sprains/fractures, and brachymetatarsia.

His fellowship also included advanced and specialized training in minimally invasive foot and ankle surgical techniques, including minimally invasive bunion surgery and gradual deformity correction with the Ilizarov hexapod external fixator. With such a vast background, Dr. Ahmed is well-equipped to treat foot and ankle conditions for all ages.

Foot and Ankle Specialist Scott Hanauer, DPM, believes excellent patient care is based on a foundation of compassion, trust, and expertise. Jonathan Shalot, BS, DPM, AACFAS, is a skilled foot and ankle surgeon at Foot & Ankle Premier Specialists, with locations in Hoboken, Jersey City, Bayonne, Ridgefield, & Bloomfield, NJ. 

Dr. Shalot graduated from Long Island's distinguished Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, in May of 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and a Minor in Chemistry. He obtained his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from The New York College of Podiatric Medicine in New York City. 

During his time in podiatry school, Dr. Shalot served as president of the Student Chapter of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and as president of the NYCPM Student Organization. He completed a three-year Foot and Ankle Surgery residency program at the prestigious Montefiore Medical Center, affiliated with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. In 2014, she graduated in the top 5% of her class and completed her residency at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, a Level II trauma center. 

During her time as a resident, Dr. Paternina received comprehensive training in reconstructive surgery of complex foot and ankle deformities, including foot and ankle joint replacement, flatfoot, trauma, limb salvage, and advanced training techniques in treating difficult wounds. Her surgical abilities were so impressive that she earned the title of chief resident during her final year.

In addition to her surgical abilities, Dr. Paternina’s areas of expertise include pediatrics, sports medicine, arthroscopy, cartilage transplantation, plastic surgery, dermatology, and general foot care. Dr. Kyle Yi is a fellowship trained foot and ankle surgeon who specializes in trauma and reconstructive surgery.  He is proud to serve patients at Foot & Ankle Premier Specialists, with locations in Hoboken, Jersey City, Bayonne, Ridgefield & Bloomfield, NJ. 

He graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and continued his education at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA, where he obtained his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM). 

Dr. Yi then began his surgical training at New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, NY.  He was selected to serve as Chief Resident during his final year and graduated with credentials from the Council of Podiatric Medical Education (CPME) to perform reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery.  In addition to surgery, he also received training in sports medicine, arthroscopy, plastic surgery, wound care and general foot care.

As an undergraduate, Dr. Kozin attended Tufts University in Massachusetts, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree. At Tufts, she was an All-American collegiate lacrosse player, and to this day holds four Tufts records in Women's Lacrosse. She then went on to receive her Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in New York City. At NYCPM she continued her interest in athletics as President of the Sports Medicine Club and volunteering at events such as the New York City Triathlon.

After earning her doctorate, Dr. Kozin completed a highly selective 3-year comprehensive and rigorous surgical residency at the Hoboken University Medical Center. She specializes in traumatic sports injuries of the foot and ankle, and focuses on lower extremity pathology including achilles tendinitis, plantar fasciitis, ankle sprains, tendon tears, and overuse injuries. Dr. Kozin has a conservative minded approach to her treatments, but will perform surgical intervention if necessary.

Dr. Kozin is board certified by the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery and the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.

Dr. Kozin has participated in multiple half marathons. She loves hiking in National Parks, playing tennis, and skiing. She also enjoys movies and curling up with a good book.
