Dr. Michael G. Kaldis is a board-certified orthopedic and spinal surgeon who practices in the Houston and Galveston, Texas, offices of Southwest Orthopedic Group, LLP. He specializes in surgery of the spine and treating scoliosis. Dr. Kaldis was awarded the Clinical Excellence Award from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
Dr. Kaldis completed the majority of his medical training in Texas. He attended Texas A&M University and the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston for undergraduate and medical school, respectively. Subsequently, he supplemented his expertise during an externship in orthopedic surgery under Martin Allgöwer in Basel, Switzerland.
He returned to Texas for an internship in general surgery and residency in orthopedic surgery at the UT Health Science Center at Houston. He completed his training with a fellowship in surgery of the spine and scoliosis at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
Dr. Kaldis is highly trained in general orthopedics and spinal surgery, and specializes in treating lumbar fusion, cervical fusion, low back pain, neck pain, sciatica, lumbar and cervical disc herniation, and adult and pediatric spinal deformity.
Dr. Kaldis believes strongly that the physician-patient relationship should include communication and understanding. He listens closely to his patients to ensure high-quality care.
Through continuing education programs, he stays informed on cutting-edge research. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Harris County Medical Society, North American Spine Society, American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, Texas Orthopaedic Association, and Houston Orthopedic Society.

Mr. Kaldis was very kind, he seemed to really listen to me as I was telling him about my injury. As I was waiting in the room I could hear him interacting with patients in the neighboring rooms and he was very kind, positive and does not rush you off.

Didn’t have to wait, went right in for my appointment with Dr. Kaldis. He was very professional and is trying to get to the root of my pain. Set me up for an MRI.
Dr. Kaldis displays a deep interest in his patient’s health. He’s patient and thorough with his patients and takes the time to answer all questions. There is no doubt that he’s fully vested in my recovery.
Dr. Kaldis has never kept me waiting and has always focused on the specific reason I wa there. He neither wastes his time nor my time, without rushing me. He takes whatever time is necessary to explain my issues and gives me time to ask questions and to receive thorough, and clear, answers.
Appt time kept as scheduled with minimal wait time. Dr Kaldis made me feel comfortable and was thorough in his examination and prognosis.
The doctor was very thorough in explaining my condition and the treatment plan. I'm looking forward to seeing positive results based on his recommendations.

He is the best in he is so warm caring sit downs & explains everything & let’s you ask questions. My injection is working and I’m at work with no pain. My husband said he really cares & is concerned about a patient. Plan to go dancing
Dr DeYoung is a great Dr. He really cares about his patience and always does my knee injection in the right spot. He has great bedside manner also. He doesn't mind taking his time with you and making sure you understand everything before leaving his office I would highly recommend him to anyone.
Everything that was from recommendations to physical theropy to a cortisone shot in my back. Nothing worked. The doctor said that’s all I can do to help you. The way he explained it there was nothing he could not help me. Mize well should go into Hospis.
Dr De Young was terrific! He is very informative and took the time one to fully explain my condition in easy to understand terms and analogies. Before he treated me, he explained what he was going to do, how he was going to do it and fully explained what to expect afterwards. I felt very comfortable we with him and was totally at ease when he actually treated me.

Always a pleasure to see Dr. DeYoung for whatever my problem might be. No matter how bad the pain is,it gets better just talking about it. ( even though surgery might be the solution) I’ve been his patient for many years. My husband and daughter feel the same way I do because he’s their doctor also
On time appt. and gave good advice for future.
Went here through workers comp and the lack of compassion and the inability to listen is crazy. Made concern to doctor that my injury still prohibits me from performing my full job functions and would put me at risk if I was to return with no restrictions. Doctor suggested looking for another job in my employer or just outright stop working as he was firm in not having me on any sort of restrictions. I still have pain but unfortunately no one listens. Doctor has never prescribed any sort of medication unsure why. Usually have to self medicate 10-12 over the counter ibuprofen and mix of Tylenol on my worse days just to get through. Would not recommend if you have choices.
