Dr. Chang’s multilingual care is an important part of her practice—she is fluent in English and Mandarin and conversational in Spanish—so patients feel heard and understood. Dr. Ellen A. Machikawa, MD is a board-certified psychiatrist with 20+ years of experience helping adults manage complex mental health concerns. She has extensive training in geriatric psychiatry, mood disorders, and complex psychiatric conditions. She also uses AI note-taking support so she can focus her full attention on patients during visits.

Her clinical career took her on a journey through the healthcare system, from long-term care facilities to outpatient psychiatric settings, managing the care of patients across the life span, including children, adolescents, adults, and older adult populations. Her professional experience includes treating substance use disorder, dual diagnosis, bipolar and mood disorder, schizophrenia, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, major depressive disorder, ADHD, eating disorder, and neurocognitive disorder. She is also one of the few nurse practitioners specializing in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Esketamine (Spravato) treatments for Major Depressive Disorder.
