Lisa Duhaylongsod, MD earned her medical degree from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. She completed her psychiatry residency at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, then further completed a fellowship as Chief Resident in child & adolescent psychiatry.
Her path in psychiatry has been led by her fascination with the study of the brain as a complex processing unit of the body and how it plays a key role in translating the content of the mind (one’s thoughts, feelings, attitudes, beliefs, memories and imagination) into complex patterns of nerve cell firing and chemical release. Her undergraduate studies involved research at the Neurobiology Department at UCLA looking at the part of the brain that controls breathing. Although the study of the brain itself was intriguing, she found that working with patients and their families more satisfying and led to her desire to become a physician.
