“Dr. Cornelius is woefully incompetent and dismissive. I would not recommend him to my worst enemy. I have had terrible side effects from the medications he has prescribed me and he refuses to listen to any feedback on that, let alone give medical advice on how to come off of the medications. Not to mention, multiple times I have come in requesting a referral or any information on gene testing. He told me on my visit today “you’ll have to figure that out” and basically ended the 30 second visit.”
Hey y’all! I am a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, with training and experience working with patients in various practice settings, both inpatient and outpatient. My nursing education began in 2013 in my Mississippi hometown before moving to Denver, CO where I later obtained my Associates, then Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. I then pursued a Masters of Science in Nursing, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification from the University of South Alabama and moved to Nashville in 2018. I believe in treating mental health conditions holistically through the mind/body/spirit connection while providing an evidence-based patient centered approach to care. I strive to collaborate with my clients to develop personalized treatment plans that promote balance and healing on multiple levels.
Welcome to Empowered Heart! We are an outpatient integrative mental health clinic that utilizes psychiatric medications, supplements, lab testing, and the healing arts to work with folxs ages 5 and up to help them meet their mental, emotional, physical and spiritual needs. We treat a variety of mental health conditions including, but not limited to: trauma and PTSD, depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.
At Empowered Heart, we believe that there is no "one size fits all" approach. Kendra pulls from her experience as a mental health nurse practitioner, her doctoral education at Vanderbilt University, and her advanced training in integrative health through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute and the Institute for Functional Medicine in her care for you.
