Dr. DeMuri completed residencies in both Psychiatry and Neurology at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals.
She is board certified in General Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine. She is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health Sciences at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Dr. DeMuri has had extensive experience in community mental health, consultation liaison psychiatry and private practice psychiatry. Her interests include the treatment of mood disorders, including treatment resistant depression.
Dr. DeMuri has expertise in the use of transcranial magnetic stimulation for depression, being the first psychiatrist in the state to offer this technology in 2010.

During my residency, I cultivated a deep understanding of psychiatric nuances and treatment modalities. I am proud to mention that I have received training in cultural sensitivity, enhancing my ability to provide inclusive and personalized care to individuals from various backgrounds. Additionally, I am trained in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), further expanding my repertoire of therapeutic interventions. I am Anita Rao, MD, an ABPN board-certified psychiatrist trained in adult psychiatry at Northwestern University, where I had the honor of being a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society, recognized for teaching medical students. I earned my MD from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and obtained my undergraduate degree in International Health from Georgetown University.
