Gowri Thummala, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist who began her medical career journey in India and completed her residency training at the University of Central Florida. She brings a wide range of experience treating a mental health conditions, including unipolar depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, schizophrenia, and schizoaffective disorder. She has a particular interest in supporting individuals living with depression, anxiety, and ADHD.
Dr. Thummala’s background includes work in both inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as advanced treatments such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and esketamine therapy. She also holds a certification in reproductive psychiatry through Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dr. Thummala believes every person’s path to healing is unique. Her approach is collaborative—working closely with her patients to explore treatment options that best fit their needs, with the shared goal of finding meaningful relief and renewed hope.
Outside of work, you’ll often find her playing with her three dogs, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, or getting lost in a good book. From September through February, though, she’s a devoted NFL fan—go Bucs!

She earned her NSN in Family Nurse Practitioner at Chamberlain University and Post Graduate in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Valdosta State University. She has worked in correctional facility where she treats patients with mental health and addictive disorders.
She has experience in providing medication management, therapy, mindfulness coaching, nutritional planning, and other complementary alternative treatments.
In her experience as a NP, she finds it is most important to establish meaningful connections with patients to help them achieve their mental and physical health goals through a customized and wraparound treatment approach.

After medical school, Dr. Oyebanjo-Popoola completed four years of residency training at the University of Missouri Kansas City in Kansas City, Missouri. While there, she was the Chief Resident. Upon completion of her residency, she pursued further training in the field of Addiction Medicine.
Dr. Oyebanjo-Popoola is privileged to be a member of the inaugural set worldwide to be awarded a diplomate by the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM). She completed further training in Global Mental Health, focusing on trauma in women and children, from Harvard School of Medicine.
