Paroma Mitra MD MPH has completed her adult Psychiatry training at Harlem Hospital Center, Columbia University Medical Center. She also trained at NYU Langone School of Medicine in Geriatric Psychiatry and Public Sector Psychiatry. She is board certified in both Adult and Geriatric Psychiatry. She has numerous awards in teaching and training and has presented her work in clinical research both nationally and internationally.

Dr. Mitra does not believe that one treatment fits all. She believes in a compassionate approach and strongly emphasizes on holistic well being. She works on both medications using a therapeutic person-centered approach with care. Her understanding of Eastern philosophy and well being is a part of how she views every person's concerns. Dr. Matsuki is a board-certified psychiatrist trained in both medication management and psychotherapy to treat a wide variety of psychiatric disorders. Prior to pursuing a career in psychiatry and psychotherapy in the U.S., Dr. Matsuki also had formal training and extensive clinical experience in primary care medicine in Japan. With expertise both in psychiatry and primary care medicine, He combines traditional psychiatric treatment and integrative medicine-based treatment to optimize the well-being of the mind and body as a whole. Dr. Matsuki has private practice offices in New York and New Jersey, and provides telepsychiatry services throughout Texas, Washington, and Georgia. Valeska earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Kean University, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), and her Master of Science in Nursing specializing in Psychiatric Mental Health from Walden University. She brings more than a decade of healthcare experience, with a professional background spanning critical care, emergency services, care management, and healthcare operations.

Her practice focuses on the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of a variety of mental health conditions, including anxiety disorders, depression, mood disorders, stress-related concerns, and life transitions. She utilizes a patient-centered approach that integrates comprehensive psychiatric assessment, medication management, psychoeducation, and supportive therapeutic interventions.

Valeska believes that mental health treatment is most effective when it is collaborative. She works closely with each individual to develop personalized treatment plans that align with their goals, values, and unique life circumstances. Shanalein Cruz, LMHC, is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor. Shanalein works virtually. She also has over nine years of experience working with LGBTQ youth, children who are abuse survivors, and associated mental disabilities. Her areas of expertise include sexual abuse and emotional abuse. Other areas of her work experience encompass autism spectrum disorder, anxiety disorders, and ADHD.

Shanalein's work is guided by Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Gestalt, Multicultural, Person-Centered Therapy, Play Therapy, and Talk Therapy. The approach Shanalein uses is informed by the diverse populations she treats, cultural respect, and sensitivity to different languages. 

Shanalein graduated from Capella University with high honors. Her work in the past was with the Latino community in Philadelphia, which led to her focus on children of abuse. Her affiliations are with the American Counseling Association and the CHI Sigma Iota Professional Counseling Honor Society.

Adam Dubin, MSW, is a social worker intern serving Hudson River Care and Counseling patients. He works virtually and at the office in Teaneck, New Jersey.

Adam holds a bachelor’s degree from Boston University Rabbinic Ordination from Yeshiva University, affiliated with Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary. After graduating, he completed his Master of Social Work from Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts.

Adam is compassionate, friendly, and enjoys what he does. He has a broad array of interests and experiences with diverse populations, which helps him connect with various patients.

Iyantta Howell, M.D. is a Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist with over 17 years’ experience working in a variety of clinical environments, including inpatient and outpatient settings, prisons, residential treatment facilities, and partial hospital programs. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from The University of Michigan and obtained her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. She went on to complete her Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship training at The University of Pennsylvania’s Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

She enjoys working with all age groups and has served ethno-culturally diverse populations, engaging with patients, families, and partnering with team members within complex organizational structures. In addition to interventions such as medication management, Dr. Howell places a strong emphasis on psychoeducation, with the goal of empowering patients on topics such as disease recovery and disease prevention.

Neil Altman, PhD, is a seasoned psychoanalytic psychotherapist at Harlem Family Services, located in the East Harlem community of Manhattan in New York City.

Dr. Altman has many years of experience in community-based work, in public clinics, and in private practice. He is currently co-chair of the section on Community Psychoanalysis of the American Psychoanalytic Association. He is a member of the faculty at the William Alanson White Institute in New York City and at the Massachusetts Institute for Psychoanalysis in Boston. He is an Honorary Member of the William Alanson White Society and Visiting Faculty at Ambedkar University of Delhi, India. 

Dr. Altman is Editor Emeritus and Associate Editor of Psychoanalytic Dialogues, and on the editorial staff of The Journal of Infant, Child, and Adolescent Psychotherapy; The Journal of Child Psychotherapy; and The International Journal of Applied Psychoanalytic Studies. He is the author of "Psychoanalysis in Times of Accelerating Cultural Change: Spiritual Globalization" (2015), "The Analyst in the Inner City: Race, Class and Culture through a Psychoanalytic Lens" (2010), and "White Privilege: Psychoanalytic Perspectives" (2020). Dr. Yissell Delvalle, MD, FASAM Dr. Yissell Delvalle is a Board Certified Psychiatrist, Board Certified Addiction Medicine doctor, who graduated from UMDNJ-Rutgers Medical School in Newark NJ. She specialized in Psychiatry at Saint Vincent's Hospital in Midtown New York. Dr. Delvalle received her undergraduate in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with highest honors (summa cum laude) from Rutgers in New Brunswick NJ. Maria Dolgovina, MD, is a board-certified neurologist with a strong background in sleep medicine. She completed her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. in Edison, New Jersey. A sleep medicine residency and fellowship through Stony Brook University Hospital in New York further refined her skills and knowledge. Dr. Dolgovina’s professional experience includes positions in sleep medicine/neurology as well as work in hospital settings and neurology practices. She has affiliations with New York-Presbyterian/Queens Hospital, Queens Hospital Center, and New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

My Journey Into Psychiatry

My medical journey from India to New York has deeply influenced me. I graduated from medical school in India with the Highest Honors before moving to the United States and completing my psychiatry residency in New York. Experiencing Western and Eastern views on health and wellness has influenced my perspective on the intricate interplay between the mind and body in achieving and maintaining mental wellness.

My life experiences have allowed me to bring new and ancient world traditions, including Eastern cultural values, to my patient-care approach. Having a broad view of the world and humankind bolsters psychological betterment.

I believe in treating not just the symptom(s) but each individual as a whole. Every individual is multifaceted, and healing emerges when we address not just the mental but also the physical, emotional, spiritual, and environmental dimensions of their being.

In addition to clinical work, I have dedicated myself to conducting free health check-up camps for South Asian families, raising awareness about general health and mental well-being. This experience has deepened my understanding of cultural nuances impacting mental health and shaped my perspective on my work.

Compassionate and effective care is my commitment to every patient I work with. I strive to build trust and genuinely enjoy the challenge of solving complex problems with creative solutions and a touch of humor.

When I began my practice, I quickly realized holistic approaches to psychiatry were lacking; therefore, I’ve worked diligently to hone the blending of my treatment modalities to provide the most effective and comprehensive care to my patients.

Beyond the Clinic

Whether spending time with loved ones or working with patients in my practice, I bring a positive and energetic attitude to everything I do. In my free time, I enjoy getting lost in books about stoic philosophy, Greek and Roman schools of thought, the teachings of Freud, Jung, and Beck, and books on anthropology and spiritual teachings. I love to travel and am learning to play the guitar. I am an earlier riser and incorporate meditation and exercise into my morning routine.

I’m painfully aware that I’m not a great cook, but my passion for eating hopefully makes up for any talents I lack in the kitchen!
