Dr. Todd Benjamin Young is a board-certified private practice psychiatrist serving the communities of Northern San Diego County, with offices conveniently located in Encinitas. He has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in both outpatient and acute care settings, and is experienced in treating a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, psychotic disorders, addictions, trauma-related conditions, autism and developmental disorders, and many others. Dr. Young believes that the fundamental treatment modalities of psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy should be informed by psychodynamic principles, in which an individual patient's presenting concerns are understood within the context of their personality organization and psychological makeup, their current and past relationships, and their family of origin.
Dr. Young also believes that one's state of mental health is a reflection of one's nutritional status and degree of physical fitness, and that a focus on restorative sleep, healthy diet, and a physical movement practice can amplify the effects of psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy dramatically. He is passionate in his personal pursuit of physical fitness, health, and wellness, with active practices in functional movement, yoga, and most recently, the fascinating and challenging art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
