I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) that treats clients across the lifespan. I have extensive experience treating patients with a variety of behavioral, emotional, and mental health disorders which include Depression, Anxiety, Mood Disorders, ADD/ADHD, Psychotic Disorders, and Cognitive Disorders. In addition to medication management, I incorporate an innovative approach of treatment that focuses on treating the “Mind, Body and Spirit,” to meet my client's mental, physical, and spiritual needs. I educate my clients on making lifestyle changes to improve self-care and promote wellness. I earned my master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Chamberlain University and later went on to earn a Post Master’s Degree as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at Maryville University. The advantage of being dually certified gives me the advantage of treating patient's psychiatric and medical needs.

As a physician, I believe in honesty with my patients, so that they can make an informed decision. This is achieved by educating patients on Depression, and the risks, benefits and alternatives of treatment. I want my patients to feel empowered, because their symptoms leave them feeling powerless. One of my most important roles as a psychiatrist is to instill hope for my patients. Depression is treatable, and with TMS therapy, we have even more options for patients who have struggled. My job is to return patients back to functioning. This is how I would want to be treated, with honesty, dignity and compassion.
I specialize in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy for the treatment of various psychiatric disorders. TMS is FDA-approved for Depression and is a non-invasive, non-medication alternative to traditional treatments. SuccessTMS helps patients achieve remission from depression and return back to their best lives.
I’ve always been interested in people and their individual stories. This curiosity coupled with my love of science made my career choice quite easy. I grew up between Cairo, Egypt and New York City. After completing medical school at Ain Shams University in Cairo, I moved to Chicago for my psychiatry residency program at Rosalind Franklin University which was a great launching pad for my career in Psychiatry.
I am a Board Certified adult psychiatrist with varied experiences in both inpatient and outpatient practice. I am especially interested in pharmacologically challenging cases and handling co-morbidities. I am comfortable with the geriatric population and love to provide supportive therapy as well since psychiatry should never only be about the prescription.
I have lived in Florida since 2009 and surrounding by a large extended family with whom I love to spend time and celebrate life.
Looking forward to working with you and making strides towards your health and wellbeing.
I am a bilingual Nurse Practitioner who was born in New York and raised in south Florida. I knew from an early age that nursing was a passion of mine. I received my bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic University with Magna Cum Laude honors in 2015. I completed a Master’s of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner specialty, at Florida Atlantic University. I have worked in a variety of settings throughout my nursing career providing quality and evidence-based care to all my patients.
After working the frontline throughout the COVID pandemic and seeing firsthand the mental health crisis, I decided to pursue a career in psychiatry/mental health. I believe in fostering a safe, therapeutic environment where individual relationships can form and grow. I strive to provide personal care to my patients in order for them to achieve their optimal mental and physical health. I am thrilled to work with a skilled team of caring providers, and I look forward to providing care to you!
I attended UMDNJ, New Jersey Medical School where I received my medical degree, completed residency training in General Psychiatry, and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. After graduating, I decided to stay within the same organization working as one of the head psychiatrists for a Partial Hospitalization Program. Aside from treating adults and adolescents I also have experience working with young children who benefited from treatment within a Therapeutic Learning Center.
As I continued to expand my horizons within the field of Psychiatry, my family and I decided to relocate to the Sunshine state. Since my relocation, I have been working within the private sector with children, adolescents, and adult patients.
I favor an inclusive and collaborative approach. I believe in cautious prescribing based on evidence. I strive to provide good quality care that includes patients’ opinions and concerns.
From the miracle of birth to the depths of the human psyche, my career has been shaped by awe for our resilience and capacity to grow. As a dual-certified Nurse Practitioner, I’ve learned that true healing begins when we feel seen, heard, and empowered. Whether you’re a child, teen, or family facing mental health challenges, I’m here to help you find clarity and light. My background in labor and delivery, community health, and family medicine allows me to bring a holistic perspective to psychiatric care. I believe in the power of connection, compassion, and curiosity to uncover the wisdom within your symptoms and guide you toward lasting well-being.
My approach is warm, grounded, and practical. I listen deeply, ask thoughtful questions, and explain the “why.” Medication is one tool—not the default—and I prioritize simple, effective plans. Together, we’ll explore sleep, nutrition, labs, and more. As a nurse and mom
“I was hesitant to reach out, not because I have not seen a psychiatrist before but because I have been on several different medications and was beginning to think that this was "just me". That I would feel like this.. forever. Mrs. Robinson (Jill) was very open to hearing me and my frustrations. She was encouraging and I decided to take a leap. I am so glad that I did. I feel like my old self again. Pre menopause, pre work stress and kids. I cannot thank her enough.”
My practice is built on 5 main tenets that always put YOU first: comfort, trust, integrity, accessibility and flexibility. If you are suffering, and need help from someone who will not give up on you, then you have come to the right place! My patients receive concierge practice style treatment, without paying enormous annual premiums. I enjoy working with all types of patients and my special areas of interest are addiction, ADHD, LGBTQ+ and mood disorders. I also offer genetic testing through GeneSight as well as MAT therapy (Suboxone, Vivitrol etc.)
“It is not often that you can find a Health Professional that values you as a person. Over the last 3 years as a patient with Allegiant Psychiatry Michael Smith, MSN, APRN,PMHNP-BC I have grown beyond what I thought was possible. I can't say enough for his patience and support. For me it means the world to know I have help when I need it, no judgment, no shame. The caring support is felt and seen in action. Thank you for your ongoing support!”
