Venice Sanchez, MD, is a double board-certified physician, specializing in Psychiatry and Neurology as well as Addiction Medicine. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Addiction Medicine. At her private practice in Newport Beach, California, Dr. Sanchez offers a holistic approach to patient care, integrating not only medication management and traditional medical treatments but also therapy, spirituality, healthy eating, exercise, and attention to social factors that impact well-being.

Dr. Sanchez moved to the United States from the Philippines at the age of 11. As a first-generation immigrant raised in a disadvantaged community, she quickly recognized the value of education and hard work. While raising two daughters, she remained committed to pursuing her medical education and career. The challenges she faced as a young mother and first-generation postgraduate student deepened her awareness of the disparities in community support for women and highlighted the urgent need for improved mental health care services.

Dr. Sanchez earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. She completed her psychiatry residency at the University of California, Irvine, where she was honored with the Outstanding Resident of the Year Award in recognition of her dedication to education, patient care, and clinical work.

Her extensive training at multiple renowned facilities, under the guidance of experts in her field, has given her a broad and comprehensive skill set in treating a wide range of psychiatric conditions. Dr. Sanchez has worked at the Long Beach VA, various addiction rehabilitation centers, and San Diego detention facilities, gaining invaluable expertise in PTSD, substance abuse, and mood and thought disorders associated with substance use.

Dr. Sanchez has a particular focus on women’s health, especially in the treatment of pregnant and postpartum patients struggling with mental health issues. She trained with specialists at the Maternal and Fetal Clinic at UCI Medical Center and was instrumental in launching the first Women's Mental Health Medication Management Clinic at the Long Beach VA Medical Center.

Driven by her passion for her field, Dr. Sanchez has worked tirelessly to gain expertise in treating a range of psychiatric conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, insomnia, and other treatment-resistant disorders. Her subspecialty in addiction medicine also allows her to guide patients through the difficult journey of recovery.

Alejandra Suzuki, MD, FAPA, is board-certified in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry. She is also a TMS specialist and is proud to serve patients at Orange County Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Irvine, California.

Dr. Suzuki comes from Japanese background but was born and raised in Argentina. She speaks fluent English, Spanish, Japanese, and French, giving her invaluable insight and empathy for patients of different ethnicities.

Dr. Suzuki earned her medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina and completed her residency in ophthalmology, where she discovered a particular interest in neuro-ophthalmology. Dr. Suzuki attended the University of Miami to research neuro-otology but ultimately decided to pursue a psychiatry residency at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.

Afterward, Dr. Suzuki completed her fellowship in child psychiatry at the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA). She also received training in transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) from Harvard Medical School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Dr. Suzuki is one of the first psychiatrists in the United States who specializes in using TMS.

Dr. Suzuki’s special interest is in the mind and brain development of children. During her fellowship, she researched autism at the Brain Research Institute at UCLA. A fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, Dr. Suzuki is also a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Clinical TMS Society.

At Orange County Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr. Suzuki offers a wide range of treatments for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and medication management. Dr. Suzuki takes a prevention approach wherever possible so that her patients receive treatment early and have a quicker recovery with fewer adverse effects. She strongly believes in collaborating with other health care providers to integrate behavioral and physical health.

Dr. Rizal completed his residency from St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center (an affiliate of Tufts University) in Boston MA. Upon graduation, he went to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas to complete a psychosomatic medicine fellowship. Dr. Rizal has always had an interest in treatment resistant depression. He enjoys spending time outdoors with his twin daughters and wife.

I am practicing in Newport Beach since 1993. I completed Psychiatry Residency at King Drew Medical Center in Los Angeles in 1992 and fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at USC Institute of Psychiatry and the Law in 1993. I have served as the Medical Director of Inpatient Psychiatry units and Partial Hospitalization Programs for over a decade. In addition I have been providing psychiatric consultations on complex, challenging patients on the medical floors and Intensive Care Units at Hoag, Fountain Valley and Orange Coast Memorial Hospital since 1994. I am also a consultant to the Emergency Rooms at these hospitals and I have extensive experience in dealing with the legal aspects of psychiatry, as well as clinical psychiatry. I enjoy reading, bike riding, working out in the gym and traveling with my family.

Dr. Gol Ara is a board certified psychiatrist who specializes in treating depression, anxiety, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), bipolar disorder, panic disorder, schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), psychosis, trauma/post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), gender-related concerns, abuse, and women’s reproductive mental health. She provides culturally sensitive, mindfulness-based, and person-centered care, incorporating acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral approaches, and holistic practices. Dr. Ara completed her fellowship training in consultation-liaison psychiatry (CLP) at University of California, Los Angeles( UCLA). CLP is a subspecialty of psychiatry that treats mental health issues in patients with complex medical conditions. She completed her psychiatry residency at the University of New Mexico and earned her psychiatry degree from Tehran University. Dr. Ara is fluent in English and Farsi.

Breaking down the stigma of mental healthcare, providing an open-minded nonjudgmental physician-patient relationship, and helping each individual find ways to reach their own goals are passions of mine.

George Tun, MD, is an experienced interventional psychiatrist dedicated to transforming mental health care through advanced treatments like Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). He provides compassionate and expert care to patients at Even Better Mood Clinic in Irvine, California. 

With a focus on mood disorders and Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD), Dr. Tun's mission is to educate and provide cutting-edge care for conditions including Major Depression, Generalized Anxiety, OCD, and PTSD.

Before establishing Even Better Mood Clinic, Dr. Tun had an extensive career working in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Newport Beach, most recently in the position of Regional Medical Director at Mindful Health Solutions. 

A leader in his field, Dr. Tun has significantly contributed to the expansion of interventional psychiatry across California. He has trained and mentored new TMS physicians and he has taught the Interventional Psychiatry course at UC Irvine's Department of Psychiatry.

Dr. Tun advocates for a holistic, multi-dimensional approach to mental health care, combining TMS with medications, psychotherapy, nutrition, exercise, and meditation. His personalized treatment plans consider each patient's unique history, genetics, and body chemistry. Dr. Tun holds a Bachelor's Degree in Nutritional Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is Board-Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, licensed by the Medical Board of California, and a member of the Clinical TMS Society.
