Dr. Bryn Henderson is a board-certified physician, certified physician executive and certified as an independent medical examiner. He graduated from law school in 1984. His emphasis is on the use of evidence-based medicine, information systems and cooperative structures to improve the delivery of healthcare with emphasis on innovative therapeutics.

Dr. Henderson has served as president of the State of California’s Board of Osteopathic Examiners and for several years was Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific.

Dr. Portales graduated from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine and has been practicing medicine for over 20 years. He was board certified in emergency medicine in 1997 and practiced emergency medicine for 15 years.

Despite work in a wide variety of emergency medicine settings over many years, Dr. Portales did not find the practice of medicine consistent with his education as an osteopathic physician where he was trained to take a holistic approach to each patient in delivering healthcare. What he found is that most healthcare in the U.S. is delivered in a symptom approach. In other words, most patients have their symptoms treated, but seldom is the underlying cause of the problem addressed.

In the emergency department, this approach works very well and emergency medicine has made great strides in patient care. But, most people don’t go to the emergency department except on rare occasions, if ever. Yet, many people have medical problems that they see their doctor for on a fairly regular basis, perhaps a few times a year or more. These patients have chronic medical problems and in these chronic problems a symptom treatment approach does not serve the patient well.

The patient with high blood pressure serves as an example. How many patients go to the doctor for their blood pressure medicine? Blood pressure medicine only treats the symptom of elevated blood pressure but does nothing for the causes, which can be many. A more comprehensive approach addresses nutritional status, weight, stress reduction, overconsumption of stimulants, proper rest and sleep patterns, family history, and diet. These are a few of the related issues that affect blood pressure.

To address underlying causes, Dr. Portales forges a partnership with his patients. To achieve optimal health requires a certain level of commitment from the patient and lifestyle changes. Dr. Bloom has been a board-certified family physician in Orange County, California, for over 25 years.  He is known for his caring attitude and personable character which fosters a trusted doctor-patient relationship.

After graduating from Cornell University, Dr. Bloom received his Medical Degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.  He then completed his hospital internship/residency for specialty training at U.C. Irvine Medical Center.

He has become board certified in Family Medicine as well as in Sports Medicine and has served as team doctor for Orange Coast College, Ocean View High School, and the Orange County Lawmen.  

In the past, Dr. Bloom was Chief of Staff at Huntington Beach Hospital and still is a member of its Board of Trustees. And he was elected as the Chairman of the Board for Huntington Beach Hospital from 2004-2005.

He is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at UC Irvine.  Also, he recently served for 6 years as a Commissioner for the City of Huntington Beach in the Community Services Department.  During his final year, he was elected Chair of the Community Services Commission.

Finally, for the past 15 years, Dr. Bloom has been a Reserve Police Officer with the Huntington Beach Police Department.

Dr. Scott is an award-winning physician & surgeon. He won the AFAM/LMKU Kenneth Award in Scholarly Achievements in Psychology, as well as outstanding performance for his knowledge in internal medicine. He was recognized three (3) years in a row from Keck School of Medicine at USC. He has also been recognized by the African American A-HeFT, Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, and the Obesity and Outcome in Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia for his research performances.

Dr. Scott is a board-certified physician and surgeon in emergency medicine but brings an understanding, and ability to work well in a busy and/or stressful environment to the behavioral health care industry. He has extensive knowledge of MAT protocols and is certified as a physician to have the most up-to-date information regarding Medicated Assisted Treatment (MAT). He started his career early in 2010 working in internal medicine and quickly saw a need for medical professionals with the understanding and knowledge of addiction. Dr. Scott was able to work his way into the behavioral health care industry from 2016 to the present. He is one of the most popular medical doctors in the behavioral health care industry due to his empathy towards the patients and his strict policies with medication management.
