Stacey L. Maddox, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) dedicated to providing holistic, evidence-based care across the lifespan at North Texas Internal Medicine Specialists in Plano, Texas. With over a decade of experience as a registered nurse in diverse clinical settings—including burn intensive care, wound care, and COVID-specific medical-surgical units—Stacey brings a deep understanding of acute and chronic care management to her practice.
She earned her Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner from The University of Texas at Arlington, where she also completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Stacey’s clinical training included 720 hours of hands-on experience in family primary care, solidifying her commitment to preventive medicine, chronic disease management, and patient education.
Stacey’s extensive RN background includes leadership roles as a charge nurse and preceptor in the Burn ICU at Parkland Hospital and specialized wound care experience at Lifecare Hospital of Dallas and Texas Health Resources. She is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and holds active licensure as an APRN and RN in the state of Texas.
A proud member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the Texas Nurse Practitioners Association, Stacey is passionate about empowering patients to make informed health decisions and improve long-term wellness outcomes. Her dual background in nursing and economics uniquely informs her practical, outcomes-driven approach to healthcare delivery.
Dr Skinner, a life long resident of North Texas, graduated with honors from Abilene Christian University, with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He then attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree. Following medical school, he completed a residency in Family Medicine from Texas Tech Health Science Center in Lubbock. Dr Skinner specializes in family medicine, and has experience in advanced wound care and hyperbaric medicine, emergent and urgent care, occupational medicine, and physical medicine and rehab, and esthetics. His goal is to help patients live happy, healthy, active lives at any age by promoting healthy lifestyles. Dr Skinner is married and has three sons. He enjoys spending time with his family, outdoor activities, and being involved with his local church community.

A physician with over 10 years of experience in clinical medicine, Dr. Cauthen has also studied healthcare policy and management at Berkley and worked in research at the University of California, San Francisco and in Washington DC. He has served as a Lt. Commander in the US Public Health Service Corps and worked with the Indian Health Service in Alaska serving the Inuit population. Dr. Cauthen worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) where he was responsible for disease surveillance and outbreak investigations at the national and state level. He was stationed for two years in Puerto Rico, and worked closely with the Puerto Rico Secretary of Health on numerous health policy issues. As State Epidemiologist for Oklahoma, Dr. Cauthen contributed to the development of bioterrorism response within the state and helped develop partnerships for an early warning disease surveillance system in the state. He now serves as medical director and continues his research.
