Originally from Boston Massachusetts, she was educated at first at Mass General Hospital, and later at Boston College. She worked as a Registered Nurse for many years in cardiothoracic nursing as well as brain injury and spinal cord rehabilitation. Mitzi Laughlin, PhD joined Houston Methodist in 2022 and made an immediate impact in Orthopedic research. She is a former athletic trainer who worked at Alief Hastings High School and Rice University. After earning her doctorate from the University of Houston she began working at NASA treating astronauts after injuries or spaceflight to the International Space Station (ISS). In 2016, she was awarded a 5-year, million dollar grant to study the time course of muscle atrophy during ISS missions. Currently, the focus of her research includes quantifying patient outcomes following orthopedic surgery and identifying factors that determine individual variations in return to sports and training.

Michelle Fredricks, MD, is a board-certified primary care physician caring for patients around Baytown, Texas, at Jacinto Medical Group. Practicing for more than 20 years, Dr. Fredricks is dedicated to working with all ages, ensuring that she can treat patients at any stage during their life.
Passionate about helping others throughout college, Dr. Fredricks enrolled in the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio after receiving her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Houston, earning her doctorate in medicine in 1995.

Francis Dang, PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant at Heights Dermatology in Lake Jackson. She joined the team in 2020.
Francis graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences in Austin, Texas. She then attended the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, where she completed a dietetic internship in the Texas Medical Center and earned a Master in Public Health. Her master’s has a special focus on health promotion and behavioral sciences.
She later returned to her hometown of Dallas, where she worked for six years as a registered dietitian for the UT Southwestern Solid Organ Transplant Program. During that time, her passion and interest for medicine grew, and she decided to pursue a new career as a physician assistant. In 2019, she completed a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Radford University in Roanoke, Virginia.
During her time as a registered dietitian, Francis cared for patients with a variety of medical conditions and learned the importance of patient-centered and preventative healthcare, all based on evidence-based medicine. Annie is originally from the Houston area and attended high school at St. Agnes Academy. She graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science and Arts in Nutrition in Business. She obtained her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from UTMB in 2019.
Before completing her graduate studies, she gained hands-on experience working as a clinical care coordinator in hepatology at the Houston Medical Center.
