Neda Black, MD, FAAD, is a highly-regarded and well-trained double board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained dermatopathologist focusing on medical and cosmetic dermatology. She sees patients at California Dermatology and Mohs Surgery Specialists in Pasadena, California. After residency, she went on to complete a prestigious fellowship in dermatopathology under the direction of Loren Golitz, MD, at the University of Colorado Denver. This extra training has allowed her to develop special expertise in the microscopic diagnosis of skin cancer and skin disease.

Dr. Black has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in journals such as the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and JAMA Dermatology. Her research generally focuses on skin cancer prevention and melanoma detection, and it has been frequently cited in the popular press, such as NPR, BBC News, Forbes, Huffington Post, and Medscape. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a fellow of the American Society of Dermatopathology. She is also on the medical staff at Huntington Hospital.

Valarie has been working as an aesthetic nurse with Westlake Laser since 2000.  She is highly proficient with injectable fillers and neurotoxins as well as aesthetic lasers and other modalities.  She will help you look your best, while still appearing natural and will use the numerous resources available at our office to create a customized plan to achieve that goal.

Valarie graduated from the University of Oregon with a BS degree and began her career in the computer business.  After the birth of her children she returned to school to become a registered nurse. She spent 10 years working as a labor and delivery nurse before she moved to aesthetics and began the journey with Westlake Laser.  She feels fortunate to have the resources and support of our medical director, Dr. A. Raymond Dorio, MD, is a primary care physician and general practitioner specializing in geriatric medicine at IMAC Medical Group. At his practice in Newhall, California, he provides a wide range of internal and primary care services to patients of all ages. 

Dr. Dorio graduated with his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1969. He then earned his medical degree from the University of California, Irvine in 1974, and went on to complete his post-graduate training in the department of pathology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Afterward, he stayed at the University of Pennsylvania as an assistant professor of pathology, researching cell adhesion molecules. Dr. Dorio then researched the biochemistry of alcohol as an assistant professor of pathology at Drexel University College of Medicine (formerly Hahnemann University) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and as an assistant professor of research pathology at the University of Southern California, affiliated with Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
