Board-certified in gastroenterology and hepatology, Brian McMorrow, MD, is our Physician Director at Gateway Gastroenterology Research.  In this capacity, Dr. McMorrow is only evaluating and caring for patients who are interested in or enrolled in the various clinical trials at our research affiliate. 

Dr. McMorrow completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California – Davis, earning his Bachelor of Science degree. From there, he moved to Missouri to pursue his medical degree at St. Louis University, where he would later also complete his internal medicine residency.  

A member of the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Dr. McMorrow prioritizes ongoing education and makes every effort to stay on top of the latest developments in his field. 

When he’s away from the office, Dr. McMorrow is an avid runner, hiker, and part-time soccer coach. He welcomes new patients to Gateway Gastroenterology and looks forward to providing them with top-quality care.

Andrew Lange, MD, FACP provides comprehensive gastroenterology care at Wake Endoscopy. He is proud to provide a compassionate approach to patient care for the communities of Raleigh, Wake Forest, Cary, Clayton, and Wilson, North Carolina.   

Dr. Lange grew up in Bloomington, Minnesota. He earned his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and then went on to obtain a Master of Science in physiology from Georgetown University. He pursued medical training at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. He was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Medical Honor societies while studying at Tulane. 

Following his graduation, Dr. Lange completed his internal medicine residency at Yale University. He remained on the medical staff at Yale-New Haven Hospital as an attending physician in hospital medicine. Dr. Lange completed a gastroenterology fellowship at the Lahey Clinic in the Boston area before joining Wake Endoscopy in 2022.

Dr. Lange’s clinical interests include eosinophilic esophagitis, colon cancer screening, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and hepatology. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed manuscripts on topics in gastroenterology. He finds the most fulfillment when connecting with patients through active listening and compassionate care of the entire patient.

He lives in Cary with his wife and daughter. He is an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Liverpool Football Club. In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, cycling, traveling, and toddler gymnastics classes with his daughter.

Dr. Battaglino was born in upstate New York and remained in the Empire State for the majority of his education.  After receiving his medical degree at New York Medical College, he completed his internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in NY.  Following his residency, Dr. Battaglino relocated to North Carolina to complete his Fellowship in Gastroenterology at Duke University.

He is board certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology.  He joined Raleigh Medical Group in July of 2000 and has since been an invaluable member of our Gastroenterology Team.  He treats a wide spectrum of gastrointestinal diseases, but has a more focused interest in inflammatory bowel disease.

Dr. Battaglino lives in Raleigh with his wife Tracy.  He spends most of his free time enjoying activities involving his four children.  His other joys in life include traveling, working out at the gym, keeping up with the Carolina Hurricanes, and his rabid obsession with his precious Pittsburgh Steelers.

Board-certified in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Sanjay Jagannath, MD, AGAF, FASGE, brings a wealth of experience to the team at Wake Endoscopy. He sees patients throughout Raleigh, Cary, Clayton, and Wilson, North Carolina. 

Growing up in Maryland, Dr. Jag graduated with honors from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed his residency training at The University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Returning to Baltimore, he completed both his Gastroenterology Fellowship and Interventional Endoscopy Fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and joined the clinical and teaching faculty. He specializes in complex endoscopic procedures to aid in the management of patients with benign and malignant GI conditions. 

Dr. Jagannath was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins, was the Director of the Advanced Endoscopy Program, and authored numerous research and academic publications. He lectured both in the United States and internationally. He founded the Johns Hopkins Pancreatitis Center and joined the team at Wake Endoscopy after serving as the Director of the Pancreas Center at Mercy Medical Center. 

Dr. Jag lives in Apex with his wife and two sons. 

Ashish Shah, MD, is a skilled gastroenterologist and hepatologist. He brings his vast experience to the team at Wake Endoscopy, serving patients throughout Raleigh, Cary, Clayton, Fuquay Varina, North Carolina. 

Dr. Shah graduated from Cornell University.

He received his medical degree from Upstate Medical University - Syracuse, New York, where he met his physician-wife.

He attended Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia for a residency in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

Subsequently, Dr. Shah owned and ran a private gastroenterology practice for over a decade. He also served as a board member on the Delaware Board of Licensure and Discipline.

He and his family relocated to the Triangle to become Medical Director of a large Gastroenterology group in Raleigh/Cary.

He is the current Vice Chair of the Department of Medicine at WakeMed Cary Hospital and Chair of Peer Review-Cary.  He is a board member of WakeMed Raleigh Hospital Peer Review. 

He is board-certified in Gastroenterology and a member of the American Gastroenterological Association.

Dr. Shah has broad expertise in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.  His expertise includes treatment of esophageal, colon and liver disease, gastrointestinal bleeding/anemia, colon cancer screening, GERD and Barrett's, inflammatory bowel disease and more.

Gateway Gastroenterology is pleased to welcome Taylor Geisman, MD.  Born and raised in St. Louis as the daughter of a gastroenterologist, Dr. Geisman completed her medical training at Washington University in St. Louis. She served as their Chief Resident before moving on to her specialty training in clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. She has prior research experience in Inflammatory Bowel Disease but her practice will include general Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Siri Ancha, MD is a native of southwest Missouri and she has joined us in July 2025.  She will provide personalized and comprehensive gastrointestinal care for her patients with the goal of improving their health and quality of life.

Dr. Ancha was raised as the daughter of a gastroenterologist. She committed early to a career in medicine and graduated from the accelerated BA/MD program at the University of Missouri Kansas City.

She then moved to St. Louis to complete her Internal Medicine Residency, Chief Residency, and Gastroenterology Fellowship at Washington University/Barnes Jewish Hospital.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Ancha enjoys spending time with her husband and family, exploring the St. Louis culinary scene, and traveling.

Dr. Reddy earned her medical degree from S.V. Medical College in Tirupati, India.  From there, Dr. Reddy completed both her Internal Medicine residency and her Gastroenterology/Hepatology fellowship at the State University of New York (SUNY) Stony Brook.

Dr. Reddy joined the practice in January 2008.  The majority of her practice is concentrated in the Raleigh and Cary areas.

Dr. Reddy is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.  Dr. Reddy’s clinical interests include high risk colorectal cancer screening, genetic testing, Crohn’s disease/ulcerative colitis, IBS, celiac disease, dysphagia/achalasia, eosinophilic esophagitis (EOE), GERD, hepatitis, and other liver diseases.

Farah Hussain, MD, is a distinguished gastroenterologist dedicated to providing superior digestive health to patients throughout Raleigh, Wake Forest, Cary, Clayton, and Wilson, North Carolina. As part of the team at Wake Endoscopy, Dr. Hussain is a trusted partner in achieving optimal well-being through compassionate care and cutting-edge gastroenterology services.

Dr. Hussain was born in Los Angeles, California, and grew up in Baghdad, Iraq. She received her medical degree from the University of Sulaimani School of Medicine in Sulaimani, Iraq. She completed her internal medicine residency at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, and her gastroenterology fellowship at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She did an additional year of advanced endoscopy fellowship at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Hussain is board-certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology.

In addition to managing various general gastrointestinal conditions, Dr. Hussain's clinical interest and particular focus are on complex esophageal diseases and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). Her research experience during training was centered on understanding the molecular basis of different GI diseases, in particular Barrett’s esophagus. This research experience has provided her with an in-depth understanding of the pathogenesis of the disease.

Maria Lufrano, MD, is a specialist in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology. At her practice – ML Gastroenterology in Bronxville, New York – she treats disorders of the digestive system, including gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), colitis, functional disorders of the gut, and liver disease on a daily basis. 

Dr. Lufrano grew up in Westchester County and graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism as well a minor in biology and chemistry. She then pursued a Master in Science from New York Medical College in biochemistry and molecular biology. During her post-graduate training, she focused on breast cancer research. Maria continued to be interested in medicine and research and decided to pursue a degree in medicine. In 2002 she graduated from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at North Shore University Hospital – Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Long Island in 2012. 

She has remained actively involved in research throughout her career and has published several scientific papers and presented at national scientific meetings. She is double board-certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine.

Dr. Lufrano is committed to the highest level of patient care. She employs the latest technology to provide an individualized approach to patient medical needs. Her primary focus is preventive and integrative medicine as well as conventional medicine. She has incorporated the effects of nutrition and diet into the treatment plans of her patients. Dr. Blair Lewis is a well-respected and experienced New York City gastroenterologist providing care for all sorts of gastrointestinal diseases and conditions at his private practice on Manhattan's Upper East Side. As a board-certified gastroenterologist with more than 72 scientific papers, 25 book chapters and three books to his credit, Dr. Lewis is skilled in a wide array of procedures and treatments aimed at diagnosing and treating GI issues, including endoscopy, colonoscopy, capsule endoscopy and colon cancer screening, as well as the care and management of diseases and conditions like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), colonic polyps and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). He worked at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center as Research Chair of Hospital Medicine and Assistant Professor of Medicine. He was honored with “Fellow of American College of Physicians (FACP)”. He completed a Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship at State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate, Syracuse, New York. He was awarded “The Best Fellow” during his fellowship. He finished his Advanced Interventional Endoscopy (ERCP/EUS) Fellowship at Carilion Clinic, Roanoke, Virginia.

He Joined the Raleigh Medical Group Gastroenterology, Wake Endoscopy, and Wilson Digestive Diseases Center in 2019.

He specializes in advanced interventional endoscopic procedures like endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), Spyglass cholangioscopy, endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) with fine needle aspiration, and pancreatic cyst drainage with stent placement. He performed the first pancreatic cyst drainage (cystogastrostomy) with stent placement at WakeMed Raleigh and WakeMed Cary.

Dr. Angela Shannon is a board-certified pediatric gastroenterologist who has been in practice for over 12 years. A native of Smithville, MS, she graduated valedictorian of her high school class and went on to graduate cum laude from Millsaps College in Jackson, MS. She trained at University of MS Medical Center in Jackson, MS during her pediatric residency and at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, OH for her pediatric gastroenterology fellowship. She has primarily practiced in the Jackson, Madison, and Flowood areas but also started a travel clinic in Tupelo in 2015. In January 2021, Dr. Shannon founded her own pediatric GI clinic- Happy Tummies- in Flowood, MS. She has received numerous awards for her work, including Outstanding Pediatric Resident, the Fellow Award in Research, Doctor of Distinction, and she was also honored as a Healthcare Hero in 2019. Dr. Shannon lives in Madison, MS where she is married to an amazing husband and has three fun and wonderful children.

Dr. Allen attended medical school at UNC and performed his Gastroenterology Fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia where he also served as Chief Fellow and completed a sub fellowship in Pancreatobiliary Medicine.  He is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.  He originally joined Raleigh Medical Group in 1991.  He and his wife, Dr. Jill Allen, who are both from very rural areas, moved to the country in Southern Virginia to slow down some, raise a family along the shores of Kerr Lake, and devote themselves to the practice of their specialties in very underserved areas.  Dr. Allen closed his practice after 21 years of service and has rejoined his friends, both old and new, at Raleigh Medical Group.  And he admits, he is having a blast!  

Dr. Allen has won Clinician of the Year Awards from both UNC and Duke University Medical Center.  He won the Presidents Award from the Virginia GI Society for his work in converting the ACG Williamsburg Conference from a local speakers’ conference to the third largest academic GI conference in America.  He very much enjoys teaching at both the medical student and community levels.

In his free time, Dr. Allen enjoys spending time with his family and church.  He and his wife are active members of Clarksville Presbyterian Church.

Pia Prakash, MD, is a leading physician at the Gastro Center of Maryland in Columbia and Olney, Maryland. She is board certified in both gastroenterology and hepatology and is passionate about offering her patients personalized, compassionate care that meets their treatment goals.

Dr. Prakash studied medicine at George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington D.C. After graduating, she completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in gastroenterology, both at George Washington University. Dr. Prakash has also participated in a number of research studies, primarily focusing on colon cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), women’s health, and the impacts of celiac disease.
