Hi, I am Dr. Jaswinderjit Singh (Dr. Jazz). I am a holistic psychiatrist and life strategist who believes optimal mental health is more than just treating symptoms with medication. Instead, I guide my patients on the road to long-lasting overall health by getting to the root of their problems.

I combine conventional treatments with mind-body practices to restore peak mental and physical health.

My Journey Into Psychiatry

My medical journey from India to New York has deeply influenced me. I graduated from medical school in India with the Highest Honors before moving to the United States and completing my psychiatry residency in New York. Experiencing Western and Eastern views on health and wellness has influenced my perspective on the intricate interplay between the mind and body in achieving and maintaining mental wellness.

My life experiences have allowed me to bring new and ancient world traditions, including Eastern cultural values, to my patient-care approach. Having a broad view of the world and humankind bolsters psychological betterment.

I believe in treating not just the symptom(s) but each individual as a whole. Every individual is multifaceted, and healing emerges when we address not just the mental but also the physical, emotional, spiritual, and environmental dimensions of their being.

In addition to clinical work, I have dedicated myself to conducting free health check-up camps for South Asian families, raising awareness about general health and mental well-being. This experience has deepened my understanding of cultural nuances impacting mental health and shaped my perspective on my work.

Compassionate and effective care is my commitment to every patient I work with. I strive to build trust and genuinely enjoy the challenge of solving complex problems with creative solutions and a touch of humor.

When I began my practice, I quickly realized holistic approaches to psychiatry were lacking; therefore, I’ve worked diligently to hone the blending of my treatment modalities to provide the most effective and comprehensive care to my patients.

Beyond the Clinic

Whether spending time with loved ones or working with patients in my practice, I bring a positive and energetic attitude to everything I do. In my free time, I enjoy getting lost in books about stoic philosophy, Greek and Roman schools of thought, the teachings of Freud, Jung, and Beck, and books on anthropology and spiritual teachings. I love to travel and am learning to play the guitar. I am an earlier riser and incorporate meditation and exercise into my morning routine.

I’m painfully aware that I’m not a great cook, but my passion for eating hopefully makes up for any talents I lack in the kitchen!

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a proud graduate of New York University. I’m passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and reconnect with their innate strengths. My approach is grounded in warmth, authenticity, and compassion — I believe healing happens within a trusting, safe, and nurturing therapeutic relationship.

I work with adults, adolescents, and children facing a variety of concerns, including mood disorders/depression, anxiety, PTSD, and ADHD. My work is trauma-informed and guided by psychodynamic principles while also being collaborative, insight-oriented, and solution-focused.

I draw from a range of modalities to meet your unique needs, always with the intention of fostering growth, resilience, and self-compassion. I am a child and Adolescent psychiatrist trained at Rutgers New Jersey Medical school and Board certified in both General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. I have been in practice for over 10 years and specialize in medication treatments for ADHD, Oppositional defiant disorder, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, Autism spectrum disorder and tic disorders. I pursue a working alliance with families, schools, therapists, and pediatricians, including the review of prior assessments, as the basis of the treatment plan. My approach is to start with a thorough diagnosis and formulate a plan that includes medications, psychotherapy, diet, exercise, sleep hygiene, lab work and other lifestyle modifications to provide an individual treatment plan for each of my patients. As I develop a relationship with my patients and their family I strive to understand their issues and concerns to better cater to my patient's needs.

Nancy Tice D.O is a psychiatrist who draws from both traditional and alternative medicine to treat patients. She received her undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis Missouri and went on to obtain her medical degree from The New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Tice completed her psychiatric training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY. After years of practicing traditional psychiatry, she went on to study traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture at the NY College of Health Professions in Syosset, NY. She also completed training in the use of micronutrients in psychiatry.

Regina K. Fong, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner at Victory Recovery Partners, with locations in Farmingville, Shirley, and Massapequa, New York. She specializes in providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and developing customized treatment plans to meet the unique needs of her patients.

Regina began her education at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and economics in 2006. Six years later, she decided to change her career focus and returned to college to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Stony Brook University School of Nursing in New York, where she graduated with honors and achieved the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Scholar award. 

Next, she specialized her nursing education with a master’s degree in psychiatric mental health advanced practice nursing at the Columbia University School of Nursing in New York City.

Regina began her nursing career in medical oncology, where she managed care for severely ill patients in a 30-bed medical oncology unit for two years. She then gained valuable psychiatric care experience working in an adult inpatient psychiatric unit, treating people with substance use disorders, schizophrenia, and anxiety and panic disorders before moving into psychiatric nurse practitioner roles.

Regina is a member of the American Nurses Association and the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Ann is the founder of Mentis Psychiatry. She has a graduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing and an undergraduate degree from Drexel University. Ann is board certified and licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and is nationally certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Ann has achieved certification from the Neuroscience Education Institute as a Master Psychopharmacologist and offers non-invasive testing for genetic markers in order to optimize pharmacologic treatment. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. The practice is affiliated with Penn Princeton Medical Center and Princeton House.

 

Dr. Mitra will be joining Greenwich Avenue Psychiatry in March 2024 as Medical Director. She is not yet accepting patients.

Paroma Mitra MD MPH has completed her adult Psychiatry training at Harlem Hospital Center, Columbia University Medical Center. She also trained at NYU Langone School of Medicine in Geriatric Psychiatry and Public Sector Psychiatry. She is board certified in both Adult and Geriatric Psychiatry. She has numerous awards in teaching and training and has presented her work in clinical research both nationally and internationally.

Dr. Mitra does not believe that one treatment fits all. She believes in a compassionate approach and strongly emphasizes on holistic well being. She works on both medications using a therapeutic person-centered approach with care. Her understanding of Eastern philosophy and well being is a part of how she views every person's concerns. Her approach is uniquely tailored to each and every individual.
