Dr. Willenbring is an international recognized addiction psychiatrist who has been pioneering new ways to treat substance use disorders for over 40 years. During his early career as a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Minnesota his research focused on better ways to manage chronic complex conditions, where substance use, mental and physical disorders are often combined. Dr. Willenbring was then recruited by the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, where he directed the Division responsible for funding research grants on alcohol treatment and recovery. He was a leader in developing research on the basic science of the mechanisms of change, an effort that is still going strong today. Upon his return to Minnesota, he developed a clinic where both psychiatric and substance use disorders are treated together. He worked for two years as medical director for PATH Mental Health. His current practice is primarily clinical, treating a wide variety of MH conditions.

Michael Hutchinson, MD, PhD

Dr. Hutchinson is a board-certified neurologist and senior faculty at the Icahn School of Medicine, Mount Sinai, Manhattan. His clinical interests include headaches, dementia, concussion, traumatic brain injury (TBI), Parkinson's Disease, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, anxiety, and REM sleep disorders.  He has an extensive scientific background and brings a science-based approach to solving clinical problems.

During his residency at the University of Washington, Hutchinson used his knowledge of chaos theory to propose a new way of treating status epilepticus, the most lethal form of epilepsy. The treatment proved successful and is now standard-of-care in the US. Hutchinson later did a sabbatical at Queen Square, London, where Ian McDonald was pioneering the use of beta interferon as the first treatment for multiple sclerosis.

 

After residency training, Hutchinson underwent a neuroimaging fellowship in Los Angeles.

 

After arriving at NYU in 1994, Hutchinson pioneered the use of cholinesterase inhibitors as a treatment for the dementia of Parkinson's disease. At the time this was considered forbidden because it might make the patient physically worse, but Hutchinson argued that this premise was ill-conceived. Today, cholineserase inhibitors are standard-of-care in Parkinson's dementia. Hutchinson later developed a new way of treating acute relapses in multiple sclerosis, which puts the patient in charge, and has yielded impressive long-term results.

 

During his time at NYU, Hutchinson made early contributions to functional MRI, discovering that regional brain activations during cognitive tasks are accompanied by widespread deactivations.  In structural imaging, Hutchinson combined physics, neuropathology, and image processing to develop a robust MRI biomarker for Parkinson's disease.

 

In addition to certification in neurology, Hutchinson is certified in neuroimaging (MRI and CT of the brain and spine), which combines neuroanatomy, neuropathology, and neurophysiology, fields that form the unique base of clinical neurology.

 

Dr. Hutchinson holds a Ph.D. in molecular physics and is the inventor of spatial sensitivity encoding for MRI - sometimes referred to as parallel MRI - which is now the acknowledged standard for clinical MRI. He is currently exploring a possible extension of this to ultrafast imaging.

Dr. Kevin Jean Lemaire is a Psychiatrist providing care to residents of New York and New Jersey. Dr. Lemaire believes in “treating the patient as a whole” and that “laughter is the best medicine”. My career goals have been focused on the LGBTQ population working both as president of AGLP: The Association of LGBTQ Psychiatrists and Director of Psychiatry at Callen-Lorde Community Health Center, one of the largest LGBTQ Medical Centers in the world. I provide psychotherapy and/or medication management. My training is largely psychodynamic but I use behavioral therapies when needed.

Mina Johnson is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and a graduate of Columbia University Medical Center. She is affiliated with NYU Langone Health - Manhattan and Bellevue Hospital Center where she is currently a clinical instructor and an attending NP specializing in the treatment of people with serious and persistent mental illness in the civilian and forensic inpatient settings. ​ She is passionate about mental health advocacy and expanding access to treatment for traditionally under-served and under-insured populations both in NYC and in the Hudson Valley Region.

Dr. Vikas Shetty obtained his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C.. Dr. Shetty then completed his neurology residency at the same institution, where he gained extensive experience in managing a wide range of neurological conditions.
