Hi, I am Dr. Jaswinderjit Singh (Dr. Jazz). I am a holistic psychiatrist and life strategist who believes optimal mental health is more than just treating symptoms with medication. Instead, I guide my patients on the road to long-lasting overall health by getting to the root of their problems.

I combine conventional treatments with mind-body practices to restore peak mental and physical health.

My Journey Into Psychiatry

My medical journey from India to New York has deeply influenced me. I graduated from medical school in India with the Highest Honors before moving to the United States and completing my psychiatry residency in New York. Experiencing Western and Eastern views on health and wellness has influenced my perspective on the intricate interplay between the mind and body in achieving and maintaining mental wellness.

My life experiences have allowed me to bring new and ancient world traditions, including Eastern cultural values, to my patient-care approach. Having a broad view of the world and humankind bolsters psychological betterment.

I believe in treating not just the symptom(s) but each individual as a whole. Every individual is multifaceted, and healing emerges when we address not just the mental but also the physical, emotional, spiritual, and environmental dimensions of their being.

In addition to clinical work, I have dedicated myself to conducting free health check-up camps for South Asian families, raising awareness about general health and mental well-being. This experience has deepened my understanding of cultural nuances impacting mental health and shaped my perspective on my work.

Compassionate and effective care is my commitment to every patient I work with. I strive to build trust and genuinely enjoy the challenge of solving complex problems with creative solutions and a touch of humor.

When I began my practice, I quickly realized holistic approaches to psychiatry were lacking; therefore, I’ve worked diligently to hone the blending of my treatment modalities to provide the most effective and comprehensive care to my patients.

Beyond the Clinic

Whether spending time with loved ones or working with patients in my practice, I bring a positive and energetic attitude to everything I do. In my free time, I enjoy getting lost in books about stoic philosophy, Greek and Roman schools of thought, the teachings of Freud, Jung, and Beck, and books on anthropology and spiritual teachings. I love to travel and am learning to play the guitar. I am an earlier riser and incorporate meditation and exercise into my morning routine.

I’m painfully aware that I’m not a great cook, but my passion for eating hopefully makes up for any talents I lack in the kitchen!

Having had the privilege of caring for over 5,000 patients with PANDAS/PANS, Autism not only from all over the United States, but also across the globe: Canada, England, Ireland, Italy, Austria, Finland, Mexico, Australia & Bangladesh, Dr. Rosario Trifiletti, is the world’s foremost authority of this condition. For more than two decades, Dr. Trifiletti ("Dr. T") has been deeply involved in PANDAS/PANS. In fact, from 2009-2019 he ran the only practice in the world dedicated exclusively to that condition. Since he is a sole practitioner, Dr. Trifiletti, has personally examined and treated every single patient. Specializing in highly complex cases, he has helped countless children who suffered for years while other professionals could not offer a proper diagnosis and simply gave up. Most importantly, because Dr. T is NOT affiliated with any hospital or hospital system, he is afforded total freedom to“think outside the box”, which is critical to analyzing complex.

Through active listening and thoughtful questioning, I am able to deliver high-quality care that utilizes the most recent advancements in medicine. I'm especially interested in Men's Health issues and I have unique blend of clinical knowledge and I am compassionate. Dr. Matsuki is a board-certified psychiatrist trained in both medication management and psychotherapy to treat a wide variety of psychiatric disorders. Prior to pursuing a career in psychiatry and psychotherapy in the U.S., Dr. Matsuki also had formal training and extensive clinical experience in primary care medicine in Japan. With expertise both in psychiatry and primary care medicine, He combines traditional psychiatric treatment and integrative medicine-based treatment to optimize the well-being of the mind and body as a whole. Dr. Matsuki has private practice offices in New York and New Jersey, and provides telepsychiatry services throughout Texas, Washington, and Georgia. Dr. Matsuki is also on staff at Mount Sinai Morningside and West Hospitals, where he is an Attending Psychiatrist in the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program, and is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Adam Dubin, MSW, is a social worker intern serving Hudson River Care and Counseling patients. He works virtually and at the office in Teaneck, New Jersey.

Adam holds a bachelor’s degree from Boston University Rabbinic Ordination from Yeshiva University, affiliated with Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary. After graduating, he completed his Master of Social Work from Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts.

Adam is compassionate, friendly, and enjoys what he does. He has a broad array of interests and experiences with diverse populations, which helps him connect with various patients.

Shanalein Cruz, LMHC, is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor. Shanalein works virtually. She also has over nine years of experience working with LGBTQ youth, children who are abuse survivors, and associated mental disabilities. Her areas of expertise include sexual abuse and emotional abuse. Other areas of her work experience encompass autism spectrum disorder, anxiety disorders, and ADHD.

Shanalein's work is guided by Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Gestalt, Multicultural, Person-Centered Therapy, Play Therapy, and Talk Therapy. The approach Shanalein uses is informed by the diverse populations she treats, cultural respect, and sensitivity to different languages. 

Shanalein graduated from Capella University with high honors. Her work in the past was with the Latino community in Philadelphia, which led to her focus on children of abuse. Her affiliations are with the American Counseling Association and the CHI Sigma Iota Professional Counseling Honor Society.

Ms. Cruz is bilingual in both English and in Spanish. 

Valeska Thompson is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who provides compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care to adults. She is committed to creating a supportive and collaborative environment where individuals feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout their mental health journey.

Valeska earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Kean University, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), and her Master of Science in Nursing specializing in Psychiatric Mental Health from Walden University. She brings more than a decade of healthcare experience, with a professional background spanning critical care, emergency services, care management, and healthcare operations.

Her practice focuses on the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of a variety of mental health conditions, including anxiety disorders, depression, mood disorders, stress-related concerns, and life transitions. She utilizes a patient-centered approach that integrates comprehensive psychiatric assessment, medication management, psychoeducation, and supportive therapeutic interventions.

Valeska believes that mental health treatment is most effective when it is collaborative. She works closely with each individual to develop personalized treatment plans that align with their goals, values, and unique life circumstances. Her approach is grounded in empathy, clinical excellence, and respect for the diverse experiences that shape each person's path to wellness.
