Joshua D. Feder, M.D., is an experienced and compassionate psychiatrist serving children, adults, and families in and around Solana Beach, California. With more than three decades of experience, Dr. Feder is board-certified in general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. He enjoys getting to know his patients and helping them resolve mental health and behavioral issues, ultimately improving their wellness and quality of life. Dr. Feder continues to run his full clinical practice along with writing, podcasting, teaching, conducting research, global health care, and offering legal forensic psychiatric services related largely to trauma and autism.
Dr. Feder has a deep understanding of a wide range of mental health disorders. He creates customized treatment plans for each individual patient, combining medicine, therapy, and lifestyle modifications.
Dr. Feder takes a special interest in helping children and families living with autism. He works with caregivers, schools, and other medical providers to ensure the child has everything they need to succeed. As Executive Medical Director at Positive Development, Dr. Feder is helping increase access to developmental relationship-based support for children, teens, young adults, and their families nationwide.
Dr. Feder earned his undergraduate degree in mathematics at Boston University then completed his medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine. He served his internship and psychiatry residency at the Naval Hospital in San Diego. Dr. Feder is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and has been awarded a wide range of accolades and awards for both his medical practice and service in the United States Navy.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Feder recently authored the highly acclaimed Child Medication Fact Book for Psychiatric Practice. and serves as Editor-in-Chief at Carlat Child Psychiatry Report. He actively volunteers to support communities affected by armed conflict, including the Middle East, Northern Ireland, Ukraine, and the Balkans. Dr. Feder’s teaching and research includes the University of California San Diego School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry, San Diego State University, Fielding Graduate University School of Psychology Infant and Early Childhood Development Program, and An Najah National University in Nablus.

Timothy M. He values collaboration and has closely worked with nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs) to improve patient care. Additionally, Dr. Veal has provided consultancy roles for startups developing applications for multidisciplinary healthcare management platforms geared towards professional athletes, further expanding his impact on patient care.
