I partner with clients in building resilience, uncovering the joy and meaning in life, identifying and achieveing goals, and improving relationships with self and others. I believe that authenticity, warmth, and compassion are the foundation of healthy, healing relationships. My care provision is intentional, trauma informed, and patient centered. I operate from the premise that clients are the experts in their own lives and that recovery is possible for everyone. I have an expert knowledge of evidence based psychopharmacology and take a conservative approach to prescribing. I provide supportive psychotherapy within a bio-psycho-social and holistic framework and believe that lifestyle and community are primary sources of wellness. I believe in a collaborative approach to care provision, and partner with clients in finding creative and individually focused solutions that are realistic and sustainable. In addition to clinical practice I teach and supervise doctoral students at OHSU.
I received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1997 and a master’s degree in family psychiatric mental health nursing from the University of Missouri, Columbia in 2010. I have worked in every area and level of care in psychiatry for over 20 years. My practice is evidence-based built on the foundation of my education which focused on how to assess research in order to understand and effectively utilize it in practice. I work collaboratively and want to provide as much education so you are a partner in your child’s psychiatric care.
When people come to see me, I want them to feel that my caring, concern, and expertise are synonymous with hope. I believe therapy must be personalized to the individual. It's the only way treatment works and it's the only way I practice medicine. It's what you deserve. It's what your family deserves, too.

I am a dually boarded, both family and psychiatric, Nurse Practitioner with a Doctoral Degree in Nursing. I have worked as a Psychiatric Mental Health NP since 2016 and before that I worked in a family medical practice and urgent care as an FNP. I take only a limited number of patients to keep my focus centered on the individual patients that I work with and not the number of patients in my practice.
My philosophy to recovery involves goal setting, both long and short term, with the ultimate goal of recovery. Timelines for this outcome are very individual and varies from 6 months to 2 + years. The therapeutic relationship between the patient and provider is of paramount importance. The provider must have unconditional positive regard for the best patient outcome.
