Dr. Vitaly Terushkin is a fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon and a board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist. He practices Mohs surgery for melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer. He also teaches dermatology residents at Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Terushkin is one of a few Mohs surgeons in the tri-state area formally trained to treat melanoma with Mohs surgery and the MART-1 immunostain. In addition, he is one of a handful of Mohs surgeons in the country to have completed a fellowship in dermatopathology. Since entering practice, he has performed over 6,500 Mohs surgeries.

He returned to Mount Sinai to complete a dermatology residency and served as Chief Resident in his third year. He completed his Dermatology residency at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, and his fellowship training in Mohs Surgery at Rowan University, New Jersey. Dr. Heaton also pursued extensive training during his internship at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Dr. Heaton has published several scientific research articles and textbook chapters. He has received numerous awards for his role as an educator of medical students and resident physicians. Dr. Heaton is an Associate Member of the American College of Mohs Surgery, a Member of the American Academy of Dermatology, and a Member of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery.

At Advanced Laser and Skin Cancer Center, Dr. Heaton applies his expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer to help patients achieve optimal health outcomes. He specializes in Mohs Surgery, dermatologic surgery, laser surgery, and various cosmetic procedures.
