Tess Chamakkala, DO, is excited to join the team at Endocrine and Psychiatry Center in Katy and Houston, Texas. As a skilled endocrinologist, Dr. Chamakkala is passionate about general adult endocrinology and managing conditions, including diabetes, thyroid and parathyroid disorders, and osteoporosis.
She completed her undergraduate studies at Fordham University in the Bronx neighborhood of New York City, New York, earning her Bachelor of Science in Biology. From there, she attended medical school at the New York Institute of Technology’s College of Osteopathic Medicine on Long Island. She underwent rigorous Internal Medicine residency training and later completed an Endocrinology fellowship through St. Luke’s University Health Network in Pennsylvania. She recently relocated to Texas.

Yasir Akram, MD, MPH, FACC, FSCAI, is an accomplished interventional and general cardiologist at Apex Heart & Vascular Center, serving patients in Houston, Tomball, and Cypress, Texas. Known for his clinical expertise and extensive research background, Dr. Akram provides comprehensive care for a range of heart, peripheral arterial, and venous conditions.
Dr. Akram’s training spans Internal Medicine, Preventive Medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology. He is highly skilled in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including balloon angioplasty and complex percutaneous coronary and peripheral vascular interventions. Dr. James Wells joined our elite team of providers in July 2023, bringing with him over 40 years of education, training, and experience.
After graduating with his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, Dr. Wells began practicing Family Medicine at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital. He eventually moved to Selma Family Health Care, where he continued to practice Family Medicine, until he opened his own private practice, J. Darrick Wells MD, Inc., in 1996. Dr Wells continued to provide Family Medical Care for 22 years, before transitioning into the Urgent Care field of medicine.
Dr. Wells’ awards are numerous and extensive, including: the Richard D Steed Scholar Award, the All-Academic Award, the Associated Press Honorable-Mention, & Phi Beta Kappa. During his college years, he was the Team Captain for the Rice University Football team, he received the American Spirit award, the George R. Brown Most Valuable Receiver award, the All-Southwest Conference Receiver award, and was inducted into the Tiger Athletic Hall of Fame.

Annie Chang, PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant at Heights Dermatology in Houston.
Annie is originally from the Houston area and attended high school at St. Agnes Academy. She graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science and Arts in Nutrition in Business. She obtained her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from UTMB in 2019.
Before completing her graduate studies, she gained hands-on experience working as a clinical care coordinator in hepatology at the Houston Medical Center.
In addition to her background in nutrition, Annie holds a keen interest in skin care and in preventative medicine through lifestyle and diet. Building a strong relationship with every patient is an integral part of her practice. Having received personal training in dermatology from Dr. Alpesh Desai, DO, and Tejas Desai, DO, Annie practices medical dermatology, skin cancer surgeries, and other various skin procedures. Annie regularly pursues her continuing medical education in dermatology to provide the highest quality care for her patients.
She is currently a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, American Academy of Physician Assistants, Texas Association of Physician Assistants, and Texas Gulf Coast Physician Assistant Association. In her free time, Annie enjoys cooking, crafting, and spending time with her husband and English bulldog, Rex.
