Dr. Manish Gopal brings extensive expertise to treating women with pelvic floor disorders at the Center for Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, with locations in Somerset and Freehold, New Jersey.

Dr. Gopal graduated from the MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine in Philadelphia and completed his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, also in Philadelphia. Dr. Gopal recently finished an accredited fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, a premier women’s health program.

He has received funding from the National Institutes of Health for the investigation of geriatric epidemiology and completed a master’s degree in clinical epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania. He has a special interest in minimally invasive surgical techniques, and the AAGL, formerly the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, has recognized him for surgical excellence.

His research and writings have been featured in a number of peer-reviewed journals and textbooks; he also has presented at national and international scientific meetings, such as the American Urogynecologic Society and the International Continence Society.

Sarah Shami, DMSc, MSPAS, PA, is a Physician Assistant (PA) whose main focus is providing care dedicated to Women’s Health. Sarah advanced her education in the PA profession and obtained a Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) in PA education.

Sarah has always been providing passionate care in Women’s Health clinically, but has a niche for teaching as well. Sarah was a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, and a Clinical Coordinator in a PA program at a CUNY college in NY.

Sarah was born and raised in NY, and recently relocated to NJ with her husband, son, and two cats, in order to provide a better lifestyle for her family. In her free time she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, exploring new adventures and nurturing her cats. Maria Sophocles, MD, FACOG, NCMP is a board-certified OB/GYN with more than 25 years of medical experience. She is the Medical Director of Women’s Healthcare of Princeton, a progressive and innovative women’s health practice in Princeton, NJ.

Dr. Sophocles understands the spectrum of issues women face from their teens through post-menopause. “Women of any age want a physician they can trust,” Dr. Sophocles says. “I spend time with my patients so they can share intimate issues and complex problems.”

After graduating with an honors degree in English from Duke University, Dr. Sophocles earned her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. She completed her residency training at Johns Hopkins /Greater Baltimore Medical Center. She promoted early development of umbilical cord blood banks and researched non-invasive ways to detect abnormal fetal chromosomes. Today, Dr. Sophocles focuses on advancing non-invasive, non-hormonal gynecological procedures to treat vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, and lichen sclerosus.

Dr. Sophocles is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the North American Menopause Society, and the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health. She is a fellow of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is a certified menopausal specialist, and a fellow of the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease.

In early 2015, Dr. Sophocles was one of the first physicians to utilize laser for the treatment of vaginal dryness and lichen sclerosus. She teaches and trains physicians nationally and internationally and is a sought-after opinion leader on issues of menopause and female sexual dysfunction.

She is married with four children and resides in Princeton.

Gina Ranieri, DO is an OB/GYN who specializes in minimally invasive and complex gynecologic surgery. She graduated summa cum laude from Schreyer Honors College at The Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Ranieri completed her medical school training at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She went on to complete her OB/GYN residency training at ChristianaCare in Delaware. Dr. Ranieri then completed a two year fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at The Mayo Clinic where she was recognized as a top performer in patient satisfaction. She has several peer reviews publications and has presented at multiple international
conferences.

Dr. Ranieri specializes in fibroid care, management of abnormal uterine bleeding, endometriosis, and chronic pelvic pain. She believes in an individualized approach to patient care and is passionate about her patients and their unique healthcare needs. In her free time Dr. Ranieri enjoys hiking, traveling, Peloton-ing, and spending time with her husband and dog, Bella.

Dr. Sangeeta Ramani, MD, FACOG is a board-certified Ob/Gyn who specializes in gynecologic surgery. After graduating with an honors degree in Public Health Studies from Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Ramani earned her medical degree from New York Medical College and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island. She then went on to complete a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at
Stamford Hospital in Connecticut. Dr. Ramani’s philosophy is to provide comprehensive and compassionate care while empowering her patients to prioritize their health and well-being. Her special interests include robotics and laparoscopic surgery, as well as the management of fibroids and endometriosis.

Dr. Ramani is a fellow of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Association of

Dr. Yana Markidan, a board-certified OB/GYN, is the founder of Markidan Gynecology and Women's Health. She has been providing care to women in the Princeton, New Jersey area since 2012 and is highly regarded as a skilled clinician, surgeon, and advocate for her patients.

She earned her medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington D.C., where she was the recipient of the Rachel Morris Dominick Award. Paul Matta, DO, brings a wealth of experience and skills to his role as the medical director and CEO at Advanced Perinatal Associates in Manalapan and Little Silver, New Jersey. 

Dr. Matta and his experienced team offer personalized experiences for patients who visit for preconception counseling, pregnancy-related complications, and prenatal diagnosis. Sagar Patel, MD, OBGYN has obstetrics and gynecology in his genes. Born and raised in New Jersey as the son of a well-respected OBGYN, Dr. Patel now offers board-certified obstetric and gynecological services to all women in Monmouth County and surrounding areas at his private practice in Holmdel, New Jersey.

A true Jersey boy, Dr. Patel completed his entire medical training at some of the Garden State's most distinguished academic institutions. After graduating with distinction from Stevens Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science, Dr. Patel finished his medical degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

He remained at Robert Wood Johnson to complete his residency, where he was honored all four years with the prestigious Best Teacher Award and named Chief Resident in 2008.

When it comes to serving expecting mothers, Dr. Patel's philosophy focuses on patience. He prefers to let nature run its course and believes that a mother should deliver her baby when both are ready, without unnecessary labor inductions.

Rahab Khalil, MD, founded Women's Medical Connection in 2005 to provide personalized obstetrics and gynecological care to the women in Holmdel, New Jersey.

Dr. Khalil began her premedical and graduate medical education at Cairo University’s School of Medicine in Egypt where she obtained her bachelor’s of medicine and surgery degrees. Upon completion, Dr. Khalil moved to Newark, New Jersey where she continued her medical training in general surgery, obstetrics, and gynecology at Newark Beth Israel and Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch where she was chief resident.

Board-certified OB/GYN Michael Straker, MD, currently practices general obstetrics and gynecology at Bestcare OB/GYN, in Nutley, New Jersey, with an emphasis on minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.

Dr. Straker grew up in West Hempstead on Long Island, New York, and graduated Salutatorian of the class of 1991 at Long Island Lutheran High School. He is a 1995 graduate of Johns Hopkins University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology. He earned his medical degree in 1999 at Mount Sinai School of Medicine of the City University of New York, where he served as a Teaching Assistant in Anatomy and served as the Region IX Director of the Student National Medical Association. In 2003, he completed his residency training in Obstetrics & Gynecology at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey, where he was the first African American to graduate the program. 

He maintains admitting privileges at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville and St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. Additionally, Dr. Straker has been serving as the Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Clara Maass since 2009 and previously served as the Co-Chair of the minimally invasive surgical steering committee.

Dr. Straker is licensed to practice medicine in the state of New Jersey and is certified in numerous areas including minimally invasive da Vinci Robotic Surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the National Medical Association and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists (FACOG). He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of the Department of OB/GYN at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine. In this capacity, he teaches Obstetrics and Gynecology to medical students rotating through Clara Maass Medical Center. He previously sat on the Board of Directors of the Neighborhood Health Services Corporation (formerly the Plainfield Health Center) in Plainfield, New Jersey. 

Dr. Straker believes in staying active within the community. He is a member of the Montclair Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He is an active member of Elmwood United Presbyterian Church where he serves on the Deacon Board and participates in the Pastoral Care ministry, the Men of Faith ministry, and the Marriage Enrichment Ministry. He also serves on the West Orange Zoning Board of Adjustments. 

Dr. Straker loves to cook and keeps his smoker active year round. He lives in West Orange with his wife Jamelle, and his two sons Eric and Jay.

Caroline Paster graduated from the Midwifery Education Program at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, where she received the Spirit of Midwifery Award along with Clinical and Academic Excellence Awards. Caroline received her Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience and Women’s Studies from Syracuse University and completed a post-baccalaureate at New York University. Caroline previously worked as a midwife at Coney Island Hospital servicing a diverse population of patients. She was recently awarded the 2016 Outstanding Preceptor Award from the American College of Nurse Midwives. Caroline thoroughly enjoys her work in obstetrics and gynecology and is also involved in training student midwives.

Adam Fechner, MD, is a double board-certified OB/GYN practicing at University Reproductive Associates in Hasbrouck Heights, Wayne, and Millburn, New Jersey. He specializes in endometriosis, recurrent pregnancy loss, uterine fibroids, in vitro fertilization, polycystic ovary syndrome, and minimally invasive reproductive surgery.

Dr. Fechner earned his bachelor’s degree at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and his Doctorate of Medicine at New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey. He is double board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Olga Tusheva, MD, is a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist at K&K OB-GYN and Cosmetics, which serves the residents of the New York City area, out of their clinics in Midtown East and Downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Tusheva is dedicated to delivering exceptional women’s healthcare with a personalized touch. 

A graduate of the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, she earned the distinguished “Outstanding Senior in Surgery” award. Dr. Tusheva completed her internship at Beth Israel Mount Sinai Medical Center and her OB-GYN residency at Northwell Health System.

With a passion for minimally invasive gynecology and holistic women’s wellness, Dr. Tusheva has conducted research at renowned institutions such as Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and the Alvin J. Outside the clinic, Dr. Tusheva enjoys skiing, surfing, opera, and flying airplanes. A former professional gymnast, she is also an advocate for healthy nutrition and an active lifestyle.

I graduated from the Midwifery Program at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Prior to becoming a midwife, I was an Ob/Gyn sonographer. Upon graduation from Downstate, I received multiple awards for dedication and perseverance to the Midwifery Program. I worked for a very busy private Ob Gyn practice in the last three years and will continue to be determined and dedicated to keeping the well-being of women, their babies and family members foremost in my mind.
