MIU Center was created by Dr. Munachim Uyanwune in 2021. Dr. Uyanwune fondly known as “Dr. U” was inspired to create this practice in response to all the turbulent events in 2020, particularly the coronavirus pandemic, racial discrimination and the stigma associated with mental health. While growing up, Dr. Uyanwune saw untreated mental illness in her community. She learned that the impact of this extends wide, affecting the individual, their family and their community at large. Dr. Geoca entered medicine to help others, better understand the human experience, and hear and honor others stories.
