Ivan C. Walks, M.D. is a thoughtful and caring Psychiatrist, with expertise in treating individuals with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, including substance abuse. Conducting thorough evaluations and prescribing best medications according to diagnosis, Dr. Walks monitors his patients to determine efficacy and potential side effects of psychotropic medications. Samirah began her clinical career eleven years ago as a registered nurse providing care at University Hospital Emergency Department of Newark, NJ often caring for those suffering from psychiatric crises, which ultimately inspired her to progress into her true passion, transitioning into a permanent mental health advocate. One of her major convictions to implementation of care is that she is a firm believer that all patients are entitled to confidentiality which she assures can be consistently maintained at Growth Outpatient Mental Health Services.

I have a particular interest in treating mood disorders, including treatment-resistant depression, depression with psychotic features, bipolar disorder, and depression in the elderly. At McLean Neuropsychiatric Treatment Center, I offer neuromodulation treatments, including transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), esketamine (Spravato), and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), for treatment of depression and other psychiatric conditions. I completed my medical school and psychiatry residency at the University of Michigan, followed by a geriatric psychiatry fellowship at UCLA. I was previously the director of neuromodulation at the Philadelphia VA and an inpatient psychiatrist at the Palo Alto VA, as well as a clinical assistant professor at Stanford University.
