Drawing on the uniquely personal strengths of each individual, I collaborate with my patients to meet their healthcare goals and live their best lives.
I am dual board certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist. I see clients from age 12 and up. People come to treatment for all sorts of reasons — anxiety, depression, trauma, difficulty functioning at work or school, family conflict, challenges in relationships, low self-esteem, or simply a desire to learn more about themselves. As a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist with expertise in both medication management and psychotherapy, I can help patients develop a treatment plan that meets their needs. My style is guided by warmth and flexibility, with the goals of helping patients build insight and reduce symptoms.
I create individualized treatment plans, assessing patients' goals, unique life experiences, and biological risk factors. While medication is useful in some cases, I am dedicated to helping my patients achieve lasting change through therapy as well.
As a Yale trained Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, with a Master's Degree in Psychology, and extensive training in both psychiatry and psychology, I am able to provide holistic, comprehensive, person-centered care.
My commitment to you, is to treat not only the most overt symptoms you are experiencing, but explore all contributing factors, and root causes, to develop a deeper understanding of how to best meet your goals. From this full-scope of awareness, and insight, we will collaboratively work to create an integrative care plan that brings meaningful, sustainable, changes that improve your quality of life, and overall wellbeing.
I understand the courage of vulnerability needed to share openly about your hopes and struggles. I ensure that your trust is respected and protected, with open dialogue, collaboration, and genuine connection. I am committed to consistency in prioritizing your needs, availability and responsiveness in communication, and transparency in all aspects of care.

Amjad Bahnassi quite literally could not have gotten out of Syria any sooner. Born and raised in the capital of Damascus, Bahnassi graduated high school at 16 and finished medical school at 22. The day after graduation, he left.
"I was ready," he said.
Bahnassi came to Worcester in the early 1980s for a residency program at UMass Medical Center as a psychiatrist and never left. After completing his residency, he started Behavioral Healthcare Services, a practice he still leads after more than 25 years.
“Dr Bahnassi has always been a wonderful, kind doctor. He takes the time in asking questions and listens to your answers. He wants to know of any issues I might be having and it shows he sincerely cares for his patients. He will never leave an appointment without assuring he covered any of my needs. — Great guy ”
