My name is Alice Bernet and I am a Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Health and Wellness Coach. I have over 20 years of experience working with individuals who have anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, trauma, and substance use.
My broad training allows me to apply a whole person approach to psychiatric treatment and therapy. I specialize in psychotropic medication management with a motivational approach to problem solving and behavior change.
In our first session, you will quickly come to know me as a curious practitioner who is eager to demystify psychiatric conditions and treatments. I want to hear the story of what led you to our first appointment together. I'll ask lots of questions to refine a diagnostic picture and invite you to collaborate on an individualized treatment plan. My clients leave the first session equipped with a new understanding of their health and feeling confident about their treatment.
“Dr Bernet disarmed every worry I had about starting this process. If you got far enough down the process to look at this review, you owe it to yourself to reach out for a consult. You won’t regret it.”
I am originally from Johnson City, TN but have called Nashville home for the past twenty-five years. I became a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in 2005 with the desire to support adolescents and adults in feeling more empowered in their own healing journeys.

My work at the Osher Center specialized in providing psychiatric evaluations and medication management services to patients suffering from chronic pain conditions, trauma and PTSD, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and other disorders. During my tenure at the Osher Center, I was also part of the Search Inside Yourself Leadership Initiative, as well as an instructor in the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program.
I opened Mindful Psych to offer a restorative and integrative space for patients in need of supportive psychiatric treatment.
