He completed the Tufts Medical Scientist Training Program where he received his medical doctorate as well as a Ph.D. in Cell, Molecular, and Developmental Biology. His Ph.D. involved recreating the human neuromuscular junction with multiple cell types in 3D bio-fabricated structures in the lab.
