I have been working in the nursing field since 1996 in both acute and outpatient settings. I focus on holistic patient care. I believe the patient needs to be confident in the care he receives in both mind and body and kindness can be the one single ingredient that ensures proper healing. Mental health is an area of expertise I have always been interested in but was not able to pursue right out of college due to a lack of places to work in rural communities. There are deserts of areas out there with no mental health care services. I graduated in May of 2019 with a Master of Science in Nursing and certification as a PMHNP (psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner). My goal is to reach areas that have the least amount of mental health services through telehealth.
I have worked as a nurse since 1996. I obtained my graduate degree and nurse practitioner certification in 2006. As an NP I have worked in cardiology, internal medicine, palliative care, and substance abuse. I have been drawn to mental health all of my career. Miranda has spent her career working closely with children, teens, and adults in the peak of a mental health crisis. Along with her passion for psychiatry, Dr. Engeldinger is interested in providing care that is sensitive to trauma one may have encountered. Over the last several years she has worked directly with survivors of sexual assault, she has gained a deep understanding of the impact trauma has both physically and mentally on those it effects.

Born and raised in Iowa, Haley recently relocated from Austin, Texas, where she obtained her advanced practice degree at the University of Texas at Austin. She is now excited to offer mental health services to individuals in the Des Moines area. Haley advocates for a holistic, person-centered approach in delivering psychiatric care. Recognizing the uniqueness of each person, she combines evidence-based practices with collaborative patient input to develop personalized care plans. By integrating medication management, supporting lifestyle modifications, and employing brief supportive therapy, Haley empowers her patients. Her goal is to foster a non-judgmental environment where individuals feel safe to share their stories and know they are not alone.
Angela is a Dual Board-Certified Family/Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Angela started her nursing career in 1996 and has been practicing as a Family Nurse Practitioner since 2000. Angela pursued additional education and expertise in Psychiatry and is compassionate about helping individuals with mental illness. She is providing care to individuals of all ages, who need mental health treatment.
My role as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is to work with adults and teens and their families in the diagnosis and medication treatment to manage mental health symptoms. I work with patients who are diagnosed with Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, ADHD, etc. I have worked in mental health in various capacities since 2003, including as a mental health outreach worker and an inpatient psychiatric nurse as well as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
My goal is to provide a positive therapeutic relationship and serve to effectively help people to feel and function better.

Lauren is a board-certified Physician Assistant. She received her undergraduate degree at St. Norbert College, where she studied biomedical sciences and Spanish language. She then completed her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Des Moines University. Lauren is passionate about providing culturally competent and equitable care for patients of various backgrounds. Lauren recognizes the importance of educating her patients so that they receive informed care and are able to feel empowered in their journey towards wellness. Lauren practices from a holistic and evidence-based approach and works with her patients to achieve overall well-being in all domains of their life. Lauren looks forward to serving the Ames community at Walnut Creek Psychiatry.
Sara is a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with an additional board certification as a Pediatric Primary Care Mental Health Specialist. Sara has worked in the professional nursing setting with children since 1994 and as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner since 2004. She worked in Pediatric Emergency for 15 years. Sara has worked with children and families in crisis and those with long-term mental health needs. Her areas of expertise include PANS/PANDAS, adoption and adoption trauma, ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and Autism. Sara believes children are the most successful when parents adopt consistent, collaborative, and connected parenting along with a whole foods lifestyle as a means of healing the whole family. Outside of work Sara spends time with her busy family and performs with the Central Iowa Wind Ensemble.
Hailey is board certified Physician Assistant with deep roots in Iowa. Her academic journey began at Drake University, where she pursued her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology. Following her passion for healthcare, Hailey went on to achieve a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Des Moines University. Her commitment to the field of mental health brings her to the Ames community, where she is enthusiastic about offering her expertise and support. Hailey’s core principle is centered on the empowerment of patients through shared decision-making, recognizing the significance of tailoring care to meet each individual’s specific healthcare needs. Her primary objective is to establish a therapeutic partnership with her patients, fostering an environment that is not only welcoming but also empathetic. Hailey is dedicated to ensuring that patients’ voices are heard as she works alongside them in their journey towards improved mental health.
