I am a board certified psychiatrist with training and experience in both academic and community practice settings.
I believe mental healthcare is a partnership between doctor and patient. My strength is the ability to offer recommendations based on medical training and knowledge. Your role is to engage in discussion with me to come up with the best next steps that will work for you and your life.
Often I see people do best when they take an active role and interest in their mental wellness, which sometimes means making a medication change, engaging in a new healthy activity, or starting psychotherapy. Most, but not all of my patients, take medication as part of their mental wellness plan. I do not offer psychotherapy sessions myself, but I incorporate psychotherapeutic principles into my approach to treatment. If psychotherapy is needed, I can give advice on finding a therapist.
I'm from Michigan originally and received my MD from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. I've been practicing Psychiatry for 15 years now and opened my private practice 11 years ago, offering medication management. I have 6 years experience with telepsychiatry. My patients are generally adults, often students and young professionals dealing with a variety of problems and anywhere from mild to severe mental illness. My approach is highly patient centered, attentive to your specific needs and values. I also like to provide ample education about treatment options and involve my patients in treatment decisions.
