Dr. Manish Gopal brings extensive expertise to treating women with pelvic floor disorders at the Center for Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, with locations in Somerset and Freehold, New Jersey.

The opportunity to make a dramatic impact on a woman’s quality of life inspired him to pursue urogynecology. Dr. Gopal’s training covers all forms of medical and surgical treatment for women with pelvic floor disorders.

Dr. Gopal graduated from the MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine in Philadelphia and completed his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, also in Philadelphia. Dr. Gopal recently finished an accredited fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, a premier women’s health program.

He has received funding from the National Institutes of Health for the investigation of geriatric epidemiology and completed a master’s degree in clinical epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania. He has a special interest in minimally invasive surgical techniques, and the AAGL, formerly the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, has recognized him for surgical excellence.

His research and writings have been featured in a number of peer-reviewed journals and textbooks; he also has presented at national and international scientific meetings, such as the American Urogynecologic Society and the International Continence Society.

Dr. Matthew King is a board-certified gynecologist.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign and his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago.  He then completed his specialty training in obstetrics and gynecology here in Chicago at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he also served as chief resident.
 
After practicing on the east coast, Dr. King is excited to return home to Chicago and join the Progressive Care for Women team and the staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.  His goal as a gynecologist is to provide his patients with individualized evidence-based medical care so they can make informed healthcare decisions and take charge of their health.  
 
His clinical interests include LGBTQ+ healthcare, cervical dysplasia, family planning and contraceptive care, and the management of abnormal uterine bleeding with minimally invasive methods.  Dr. King has a special interest in gynecologic ultrasound and has previously given an oral presentation at the Central Association of Obstetricians / Gynecologists on the role of sonography in the diagnosis of retained products of conception.  In his spare time, Dr. King enjoys traveling the globe with his husband, reading anything from a fictional mystery to the latest Ob/Gyn journal, and running around the city.

Dr. Darshna Chandrasekhara is a board-certified OB/GYN and Infertility Specialist in Irving, Texas. Since 2005, she has been dedicated to providing compassionate care to her patients in the Irving, Coppell, and Greater Dallas Metroplex. From pregnancy normal and high risk, to contraceptive options, to pelvic pain and abnormal uterine bleeding evaluation and treatment to
issues following menopause, Dr. Chandrasekhara offers a variety of services to support your gynecological health throughout your lifetime. The scope of her practice includes pap smears, STD evaluation, prenatal care, diagnosis and treatment of polycystic ovaries (PCOS) and infertility treatment. She also has a focus on robotic (DaVinci) surgical procedures including ovarian
cystectomies, endometriosis treatment and hysterectomies.

In 1994, Dr. Chandrasekhara earned her Bachelor of Science, double majoring in Chemistry and Biology at Houston Baptist University. She then went on to receive her Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 1998. Next, Dr. Chandrasekhara completed her internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Allegheny
University Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Then, she returned back home to Houston to complete her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology from 2000-2003 at the University of Texas in Houston.

Dr. Chandrasekhara is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Texas Medical Association, and the Dallas County Medical Society. She is also a member of the Texas Indian Physicians as well as the Association of American Physicians of Indian Origin. She has performed many presentations around the country, with several publications throughout her career. Dr. Chandrasekhara loves to travel, swim, and cook in her free time, as well as photographing her children.

Mary Adams, MD, is an accomplished and caring OB/GYN serving patients at Women's Health Specialists, PLLC, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. 

Dr. Adams graduated cum laude from the University of Mississippi in 1998 with a degree in biology. Next, she attended the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson, Mississippi. As a medical student, she received the William B. Gallagher Award for being the most outstanding student in OB/GYN.

She completed her residency at the University of Mississippi in 2008. During residency, she received several awards and recognitions for excellence, including Resident Research Award for her oral presentation on gestational diabetes.

Dr. Adams is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Adams’ goal for her medical practice is to provide the highest quality of patient care while nurturing a compassionate and caring environment. She places great value on the relationships she forms with her patients, as they work together to make informed decisions about their health care.

Outside of work, she is a wife and mother of three children, including a set of twins.

Dr. Edward B Blackmon Jr. was born and raised in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He earned his medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. He completed an internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Madigan Army Medical Center.

He served as a Medical officer in the US Army Reserves reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was recalled to active duty for Operation Desert Storm. While in private practice in Akron, Ohio he was also an Associate Clinical Professor at North Eastern Ohio University College of Medicine.

He practiced In Jourdanton, Texas from 2005 to 2020 serving terms as Chief of Staff and Chief of Surgery. Methodist Hospital System closed the Maternity Service Line in July 2020, and he relocated his practice to join Dr Al-Hakeem in September 2020.Dr Blackmon has experience and interest in many aspects of OB-GYN including High-Risk Obstetrics, Minimally invasive surgery, and Female Incontinence. He believes in caring for women throughout their entire life span.

Makunda Abdul-Mbacke MD, MPH, FACOG

“I was born in 1970, to two hard working entrepreneurial parents.  According to my parents I decided to become a doctor at the age of three, and although I don’t remember that decision I do remember numerous chemistry sets, toy stethoscopes, and reflex hammers given as gifts and the verbal encouragement showered on me from family, friends, and neighbors.  No there were no doctors in my family, and at that point only a handful of my relatives had completed college, but my parents and this country encouraged me to dream.  In the 1970’s doors that had been shut for centuries were finally opening.  The country was talking about a War on Poverty, equal opportunities, and a level playing field and following those ideas up with actions.  So it wasn’t so absurd that a little Black girl from Harlem would accomplish her dream of becoming a physician.  Now some 20 years later, here I am.  I am a fourth year medical student at Yale, applying in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and along the way I have taken detours to conduct research in West Africa and complete an MPH at the Harvard School of Public Health.  My dreams still remain big, but I have learned an important lesson from my ancestors; I must lift as I climb. My future is interwoven with all the little children in the various Harlem’s of this country who wish to become physicians”

Pekka Soini, MD, FACOG founded Discovery Medical Center, serving the greater Chicago area. He provides a full range of obstetrical, gynecological, and medical aesthetic services for women during their reproductive and menopausal years.

Dr. Soini graduated with honors from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine and served his residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He received his surgical board certification from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, Lindsay Killingsworth, MD, specializes in the unique needs of women from their teen years and beyond. At Inspire Ob/Gyn, LLC in Johns Creek, Georgia, Dr. Killingsworth offers both diagnostic and treatment services for a variety of women’s health conditions, including endometriosis, fibroids, and heavy bleeding. 

Dr. Killingsworth enjoys getting to know each of her patients and has a passion for adolescent gynecology. She provides contraceptive counseling services and pelvic exams, and is dedicated to ensuring the first gynecology visit for younger girls is comfortable and positive.

Karim Khalil, MD, of Irwin Laser Center in Irwin, Pennsylvania, graduated from the University of Seville in Spain. A board-certified obstetrics and gynecology practitioner with more than 28 years of experience, Dr. Khalil has worked with medical and cosmetic laser equipment for more than 11 years.

Angela Watson, MD, will be joining our practice in January 2017. Dr. Watson graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 2008.

She has been in private practice in Arlington for the past eight years. Dr. Watson is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is skilled in all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology, including minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic procedures. She lives in Frisco with her husband and two children.

Dr. Yana Markidan, a board-certified OB/GYN, is the founder of Markidan Gynecology and Women's Health. She has been providing care to women in the Princeton, New Jersey area since 2012 and is highly regarded as a skilled clinician, surgeon, and advocate for her patients.
