Dr. Betrus has been serving Madison County, and its surrounding neighbors, since finishing his fellowship in 2021. He is board-certified in both Foot and Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and fellowship-trained with a focus on Sports Medicine and Foot and Ankle Reconstruction.
During his fellowship at the esteemed Weil Foot, Ankle, and Orthopedic Institute in Chicago, Illinois, Dr. Betrus focused much of his training on complex reconstruction of the foot and ankle, minimally-invasive surgery, sports medicine, and total ankle replacement. Prior to his fellowship, Dr. Betrus completed his surgical residency at West Penn Hospital, part of the Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. During residency, Dr. Betrus served as Chief Resident during his final year and received specialized training in burn trauma, orthopedic trauma, reconstructive plastic surgery, emergency medicine, internal medicine, and musculoskeletal radiology.
Dr. Betrus was born and raised in Metro Detroit, Michigan. He attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in biology and participated in crew. He then taught high school biology on the south side of Chicago for the next two years as a corps member for Teach For America and earned an Americorps Scholarship for his service. Following his teaching commitment, he received his medical training from Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in North Chicago, Illinois.
He has dedicated his practice to specializing in the correction and rehabilitation of foot and ankle ailments, having had his own personal experiences with lower extremity injuries during his participation in high-level baseball and basketball. Dr. Khan retuned to Michigan to complete his residency in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Beaumont Health, where he served as Chief Resident his final year of training. He then went on to complete fellowship, also at Beaumont Health, in Diabetic Limb Salvage and Wound Care.

Dr. Glod previously served as the Chief of Podiatry, Director of Podiatric Residency, and Chair of Credentials Committee at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, as well as a clinical assistant professor at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He is currently the Director of Podiatric Residency at Kent Hospital.

Douglas Glod, DPM, FACFAS, has been in private practice for over 30 years, specializing in all aspects of foot and ankle care. Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery in both foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery, he serves patients at Rhode Island Foot Care’s offices in Pawtucket and East Providence, Rhode Island.
Dr. Glod has lectured both nationally and internationally on various foot and ankle pathologies, authored several papers, and was also a co-investigator with a cooperative interdisciplinary podiatric geriatrics program at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. In addition, he is the Residency Director of the Podiatric Medical and Surgical Resident Program with reconstructive rearfoot and ankle at Kent Hospital.
Over the past 30 years, Dr. Glod has further specialized in complex reconstructive foot and ankle surgery in addition to working with limb salvage in diabetic and high-risk patient populations. Using technologies like ringed external fixation, total ankle implants, and the latest in technology with internal fixation and ortho-biologics, he has been able to pioneer techniques in limb salvage that few in Rhode Island or in the New England area have ventured.
