Dr. Michael A. Ahearn is a dedicated general medicine physician and the founder of Ahearn & Associates Medical Center, serving the Kewanee community for over 30 years. He holds Board Certifications in Family Practice, Emergency Medicine, and Integrative & Holistic Medicine.
Education & Training
Born and raised in Mexico, Dr. Ahearn earned his Physician-Surgeon degree with highest honors from the University of La Salle, Mexico City, in 1982. He completed his family practice residency at St. Luke's and Mercy Hospitals in Davenport, Iowa, in 1987 and furthered his education with a certification in acupuncture from Harvard Medical School in 2010.
Professional Experience
Since opening Ahearn & Associates in 2003, Dr. Ahearn has built a trusted practice, while also serving as Medical Director for numerous nursing homes across Illinois. In addition, he continues to work as an emergency room physician at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center. His passion for medicine extends beyond borders, having volunteered his expertise in Guatemala, Kenya, and South Africa, bringing care to underserved communities.

Dr. Ahearn has played a significant role in advancing medical research and participating in trials for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and chronic kidney failure treatments. He also served as a principal investigator on numerous medical protocols. In 2013, he led the First Community Walk to Stop Diabetes in the Kewanee area, which became a top fundraiser nationwide.
Personal Life
When he's not at the clinic or on a medical mission, Dr. Ahearn cherishes moments with his wife Rebecca, stepson Austin, Bella, and family, as well as indulging in his love for reading, music, and movies.
Diego Allende, DO, is the owner and founder of The Allende Centre for Regenerative Medicine & Vitality in Fresno, California. He specializes in intergrated medicine and has a board certification in family medicine and a degree in osteopathic medicine.
Dr. Allende was born in Argentina and moved to the San Francisco area with his family as a child. He and his brothers often worked in the family’s auto-body shop, which he credits for his value of hard work. When he began college at San Jose State University in San Jose, California, he continued to work full time while earning his bachelor’s degree in psychology.
After earning his degree, Dr. Allende moved across the country to attend medical school in New York. After a year, he moved back to California to earn his doctorate in osteopathic medicine from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, California. He then completed his internship and residency at the San Francisco campus of the University of California.
When he isn’t teaching his patients how to improve their lifestyles with healthy habits or administering cutting-edge regenerative treatments, Dr. Allende loves to spend his time traveling with his wife, Amira, and visiting friends and family. He adheres to a dedicated regimen of weight training, a nutritious diet, outdoor exercise, and relaxation.

Priscilla began her nursing degree as an LPN in 2013, then moved on to her Associates degree in Nursing in 2016, Bachelors degree in Nursing in 2022 and then graduated with her Master’s degree in Nursing in April of 2023 from Chamberlain University. She worked as an LPN and RN with most of her experience being in Women’s Health as well as Labor and Delivery. She also has experience in Neuro and Family Practice for 5 years. After completing her board examination, Priscilla worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Hometown Family Care until joining our team. Outside of the office, Priscilla enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, camping and participating in youth ministry at LifeChurch.
Kristen Laurella, ARNP is an autonomous board-certified family nurse practitioner. She received her Master of Science in Nursing from South University in Georgia, and her Master of Business Administration from the University of Delaware. Ms. Laurella has more than 20-years experience in health care and has extensive training, and advanced certifications in anti-aging, IV nutritional therapy, peptides, hormone replacement, medical aesthetics, and joint injections. In addition to a detailed health assessment and diagnostic evaluation, Ms. Laurella provides her patients with a comprehensive care plan that is individualized and unique for each patient, focusing on finding the root cause, alleviating symptoms, optimizing health and preventing further disease.

Natalie Cook, MD, is a compassionate family medicine physician at Thirlby Clinic, PLC in Traverse City, Michigan. Dr. Cook specializes in preventive medicine, women’s health, and chronic disease management for conditions such as hypertension (high blood pressure), diabetes and heart disease. In addition, she offers minor procedures and biopsies.
Dr. Cook began her studies at Oakland University before receiving her medical education at Ross University School of Medicine. She then went on to complete residency training at the Munson Family Practice Center in Traverse City, Michigan.
She is a board-certified family medicine physician through the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). She also maintains affiliation with the Munson Family Practice Center.
In her free time, Dr. Cook enjoys snowboarding and skiing, playing in a recreational soccer league, beach volleyball, and exploring new beaches on the Lake Michigan shoreline with her family.

Amanda attended Western Kentucky University where she received her Associates in Science in 2007 (Magna Cum Laude), followed by her Bachelors in Science in 2008 (Magna Cum Laude). She worked as a Registered Nurse at Vanderbilt Medical Center in their level 1 trauma and burn center as well as Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in their pediatric ICU and Surgical recovery unit. She obtained her Masters in Nursing in 2014 ( Magna Cum Laude) and became a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Her medical focus is in primary care, urgent care as well as occupational health medicine.
Dr. Valaree Luck was born and raised in the small town of Salisbury, MD. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. While an undergraduate student at F&M she learned about the philosophy of Osteopathic Medicine and immediately knew that this was the path for her. Dr. Luck moved to Bradenton, FL to attend medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. She then went on to complete her internship and residency in Family Medicine at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital in Southampton, NY. It comes as no surprise that she missed beautiful Florida, so she returned to the Sunshine State to practice.
Dr. Luck focuses on the whole patient approach to health and well being. “I believe there is a very real connection between emotional and spiritual health and our physical health. With her extensive background in patient care, Alceha Mayne-Thomas, APRN, can help patients with preventive care, chronic disease management, and so much more. Alceha cares for patients at Marion Physician Associates, P.A. in Ocala West, Florida.
After completing her undergraduate studies in nursing, Alceha was accepted into graduate school. She went on to complete her master’s degree in advanced registered nurse practitioner and is currently licensed to practice in Florida.
Alceha provides comprehensive exams, including women’s health evaluations. Her focus is on preventive care and early disease detection through hands-on evaluations and expanded laboratory testing. She also has expertise in helping patients manage diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and arthritis, to name a few.

Dr. Karen Architect is nationally certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a family nurse practitioner who specializes in Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, Diabetes, Heart Disease, and Weight Loss. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Texas Tech University HSC, graduating with honors, Magna Cum Laude. In 2012, she completed her Master of Science in Nursing degree at Texas Tech University HSC and in 2018 completed her studies by earning her Doctor of Nursing Practice at University of the Incarnate Word.
She is the owner of Heart Healthy Family Practice, PLLC. where the focus is providing meaningful care and a better quality of life to our patients. Dr. Architect has provided healthcare in the greater San Antonio area for over 22 years; and is dedicated to meeting both immediate and long-term goals by developing a lifestyle plan, targeting the underlying health issues, and always putting patient’s needs first.
Sequoise Givens, Adult-Geriatric Nurse Practitioner, is board certified by American Academy of Nurse Practitioner. She is also an author and owner of Above Average Health and House Calls company. Her scope of practice encompasses health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis and management of common and complex health care problems. She has over 10 years of experience in providing quality health care services in the home. She specializes in providing quality care that is reliable as well as affordable.
