Bikan Octain M.D. graduated from medical school at the age of 22, making him one of the youngest graduates in his class. He received specialized training in Family Medicine from Wake Forest University, Bowman’s School of Medicine, and started his private practice in Annandale, Virginia in the summer of 1991. Over his 25+ years of private practice experience, Dr. Octain has treated patients of all ages, from newborns to seniors well in their 90s. His practice has grown to serve many families who have been returning to his care for over 3 generations and in some cases even 4 generations. Prashanth Mannam, MD, has over 20 years of experience as an internist and primary care provider. He offers patient-focused care to patients aged 12 and older at Mannam Medical & Wellness in the Soundview neighborhood of The Bronx in New York City. 

Dr. Mannam completed his training in medicine in Madras, India. He earned his medical degree at the Madras Medical College and served his internship at the Madras Medical College General Hospital. 

After spending a year honing his skills as a primary care physician at Kommalapati Nursing Home in Ongole, India, he moved to the United States, where he completed his internal medicine residency at New York’s Montefiore North Medical Center in The Bronx. He has since become a member of the American Medical Association and is board-certified in internal medicine.

Dr. Mannam commits himself to provide personalized medical care to his community. He speaks several languages fluently: English, Spanish, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Dr. Mannam takes his time with each patient, never rushing anyone, and answering questions thoroughly. 

Outside of his practice, Dr. Mannam stays active by playing racquetball and tennis. He also enjoys world music and reading.

As a family medicine physician blessed with a wide range of life experiences, I strive to provide top quality health and wellness care to our rural area. I have been practicing medicine for 30 years. 21 of those years were spent in the United States Air Force and teaching our future Family Medicine physicians in 2 residency programs. It was in the Air Force that I had the privilege of learning acupuncture from the "Father of North American Acupuncture," Dr Joe Helms. This program forever changed my practice style and depth. I have now returned to the southeast Missouri region and will be doing a direct primary care model of practice with acupuncture and tele-health opportunities. From a young age, Dr. Tony Arnott was deeply influenced by the medical challenges his mother faced during her battle with cancer. Witnessing her undergo chemotherapy and radiation treatments kindled a profound desire within him to aid those suffering from chronic and terminal diseases. This early experience led him to pursue a bachelor's degree in cytotechnology from Marshall University, which he completed in 1998.

After several years in the field of cytology, Dr. Arnott decided to deepen his medical knowledge and skills by returning to academia. He earned his medical degree from West Virginia University in 2007 and chose to specialize in family medicine. He completed his residency at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia, where he greatly benefited from the unopposed family medicine program.

Over the past 15 years, Dr. Arnott has primarily worked in urgent care and primary care settings. His personal health struggles with polyneuropathy and Lyme disease exposed him to the limitations of conventional Western medicine and spurred him to explore functional medicine. This journey led to significant personal healing through lifestyle changes, dietary supplements, and IV infusions. In 2021, after being bedridden for more than six months, he found considerable relief and eventual recovery through alternative treatments.

These experiences made Dr. Arnott a staunch advocate for cannabis. He successfully discontinued all prescription medications, relying instead on CBD and other nutraceuticals. His recent role in a functional medicine primary care setting allowed him to observe firsthand the dramatic improvements cannabis could bring to patients with chronic diseases, cancer, autoimmune disorders, chronic pain, migraines, and neurodegenerative disorders. Many of these patients were able to substantially reduce their conventional medical treatments and enhance their overall quality of life.

Laura Hafez is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She completed her BS in Nutrition from ASU in 2014, MS in Nursing from the UofA in 2017 respectively. Not settling for the typical level of education for practicing nurses, Laura decided to continue her education and pursue the Family Nurse Practitioner role to provide better care. Michele Reed, DO, FAAFP, is a board-certified family medicine physician, public speaker, and best-selling author. She serves as the owner/medical director of MS Family Medicine Health Care, P.C., a holistic practice that is located in Garden City, Long Island. Recently, Dr. Michele was appointed as the first Health and Wellness Ambassador for Discover Long Island. James C. Blair, III, PA-C, is one of the founding members at North Star Clinic in Port Townsend, Washington. With over 28 years of experience in the field, he is a seasoned physician’s assistant and provides high-quality and effective care to patients.

Originally from Nevada, James moved to Wenatchee, Washington, when he was 13. Before becoming a physician assistant, he worked as an emergency and flight nurse. 

James graduated from the Physician Assistant Program at MEDEX Northwest in Seattle, Washington, and completed his clinicals in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is dually board certified in medicine and surgery.  After graduating, he worked as the director of two separate emergency departments in Lake Chelan and Newport, Washington. 

He relocated to Port Townsend, Washington, in 2003 and worked in orthopedic surgery. From 2006 to 2019, James owned and operated an urgent care center, where he got to know the community and commonly treated multiple generations of patients. 

He has chosen not to be in a corporate medicine model, where patients are rushed and feel like just a number. Instead, James treats the entire patient, adopting a holistic approach. For this reason, he has embraced North Star Clinic’s vision since its beginnings in 2019.

In his free time, James stays active with his family. He enjoys outdoor recreation like horseback riding and hunting. He also enjoys watching Seahawks football.
