I am an experienced Licensed Professional Counselor who is EMDR trained. I worked in community mental health at UPMC and in private practice. Prior to my counseling career I worked as a Licensed Massage Therapist, which was where my passion to help people in pain began. I have worked with a wide range of people with different backgrounds and cultures which helped me to learn to interface with a diverse population. I have my master's degree in Community Mental Health Counseling and went to the University of Pittsburgh for my undergraduate education. I truly respect people and and how difficult it can be to reach out for help. It is my intention to empower you, strengthen your individuality, and to help to strengthen your belief that you have great worth. We are more than our mistakes, and in my practice, I respect the courage it takes to navigate through the difficult emotions brought to therapy sessions. I'm here with you and hope to have the honor of joining this new chapter with you.

I have worked in the behavioral health field for many years as an outpatient counselor, behavior consultant, and mobile therapist in home, school, and community-based services. The human experience is profound, complex, and at times very challenging. In this experience, we all have a state of mental health, and my goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space to process this experience, explore yourself, and utilize your own insights, strengths, and skills to empower you toward achieving and maintaining optimal mental health and wellbeing. Through our therapeutic process, we can build an alliance in which you can cultivate healing, growth, increased coping and emotional regulation skills to find your inner peace.
I utilize a strengths-based, client-centered approach based on a humanistic ideology viewing clients as complete human beings as a totality of mind, body, and soul. I employ an integrative and individually adaptable approach drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities including cognitive-behavioral therapy, existential talk therapy, and mindfulness.

So much of life's suffering comes not only from the events (traumas, grief, adjustment/transitions, pressure, stress), but our response to the events. Pain, rejection, avoidance, guilt, shame, anxiety, depression - we spend a great deal of time and effort attempting to escape from these places, and yet something truly powerful can happen when we begin to learn how to live functional, collaborative, fulfilling lives with them, rather than attempting to escape.
In our work together, the goal is to walk side-by-side toward a more fulfilling life! I believe that everyone's unique background, lifestyle, and psychological needs merit an individualized approach. I incorporate a variety of cognitive behavioral approaches into my work (ACT, DBT, CPT), and believe that there's a reason behind every action. As a clinician trainee, I take my continued education very seriously, and believe this is reflected in my detail-oriented approach to Therapy.
